Systems and methods for cardless authentication of a user at an automated teller machine are described. A method includes detecting, by a mobile device of a customer, a proximity notification including an identifier broadcast from an automated teller machine within a designated time range, the automated teller machine having a transaction card withdrawal limit; transmitting the identifier, a customer token, and a device token to a bank computer system; transmitting a signal to the automated teller machine to initiate the pre-staged cash withdrawal; and providing authentication information to the automated teller machine for authentication to enable the user to perform the pre-staged cash withdrawal at the automated teller machine with an increased cash withdrawal limit, where the increased cash withdrawal limit is higher than the transaction card withdrawal limit and the transaction amount exceeds the transaction card withdrawal limit.

Cardless ATM authentication

Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media utilized for event-based authentication. One method includes recognizing an event and receiving, from a device, a withdrawal request of a user, wherein the withdrawal request includes a captured feature by the device. The method further includes determining that the user is associated with the recognized event using at least a geographic proximity between the event and the withdrawal request, wherein the geographic proximity is a given radius around a location of the event, and wherein the device is within the given radius and adjusting authentication rules based on the determination that the user is associated with the recognized event, wherein the adjustment of the authentication rules includes adjusting a matching threshold between the captured feature and a reference feature. The method further includes processing the withdrawal request for the user based on the adjusted authentication rules.

Event-based authentication

A method including receiving a funds transfer request initiated by a sender to facilitate a transfer of funds to a recipient. The funds can be transferred from a sender account of the sender at a sender financial institution to a recipient account of the recipient at a recipient financial institution. The funds transfer request can include a public token for the recipient but not including an account number of the recipient account at the recipient financial institution. The public token for the recipient can be confirmed as useable to contact the recipient based on one or more responses by the recipient to one or more authentication request messages provided to the recipient using the public token. The method also can include determining a private token for the recipient account using an information directory based on the public token. The private token can be embedded with information that identifies the recipient financial institution. The method additionally can include providing the private token of the recipient account to the sender financial institution to enable the sender financial institution to initiate the transfer of the funds from the sender account to the recipient account. The account number of the recipient account is not shared with the sender by the sender financial institution or the recipient financial institution. Other embodiments are disclosed.

System and method for transferring funds

A computing system can associate a customer device of a customer with a financial transaction record and the merchant, the financial transaction record indicative of a first purchase from the merchant by the customer, transmit a first query to the customer device prompting the customer to input information regarding an aspect of the first purchase, the first query including a description of a predetermined product parameter of the financial transaction record indicative of the first purchase from the merchant by the customer, authenticating, by the computing system, the first request by determining that the customer-input response to the first query corresponds to the established aspect of the first purchase in accordance with a predetermined accuracy threshold, and authorizing, by the computing system, connection of the customer device to the network provided by the merchant based at least in part on the first request being authenticated.

Systems and methods for network authentication with a shared secret

A financial institution computing system associated with a financial institution includes a network interface configured to communicate data over a network, and a processing circuit comprising a memory and a processor. The memory has instructions stored thereon that cause the processor to receive, by the network interface, a content request from a user computing device associated with a user, the content request requesting content from a network destination, determine if the network destination is associated with a trusted entity, determine that the requested content prompts the user to input sensitive information, and transmit, by the network interface substitution content to the user computing device responsive to determining that the network destination is illegitimate and to determining that the requested content includes at least one field into which the user may input sensitive information, the substitution content including at least one prompt requesting the user to input sensitive information.

Systems and methods for a virtual fraud sandbox

Systems and methods for cardless authentication of a user at an automated teller machine are described. The ATM may be operated by a financial institution such as a bank. The method comprises displaying an initial screen on the ATM and authenticating the user at the ATM using authentication information transferred from a mobile device. The method further comprises determining available service options for the user of the ATM based upon the cardless authentication of the user at the ATM using the mobile device.

A method including receiving a funds transfer request from a sender through a computer network to facilitate a transfer of funds to a recipient. The method also can include determining that the recipient is not a registered user of the computer-implemented funds transfer payment network. The method additionally can include automatically transmitting an invitation to the recipient to join the computer-implemented funds transfer payment network. The invitation can be directed to the recipient using the token for the recipient from the funds transfer request by sending the invitation to the recipient using the token. The method further can include receiving a response to the invitation from the recipient. The method additionally can include collecting identifying information that identifies the recipient. The method further can include creating a record for the recipient in a database of registered users contained in the computer-implemented funds transfer payment network. The method additionally can include providing an identifier of the recipient account to the sender financial institution to enable the sender financial institution to initiate the transfer of the funds from the sender account to the recipient account. Systems and methods for cardless authentication of a user at an automated teller machine are described. A method includes receiving, by a mobile device, a proximity notification from an automated teller machine; receiving, by the mobile device, a request for authentication information regarding a user of the mobile device; and transmitting, by the mobile device, the authentication information to the automated teller machine for authentication to, in turn, enable a user to perform a financial transaction at the automated teller machine based upon the transmitted authentication information.

A computing system includes a network interface, a customer database, and a processing circuit. The processing circuit receives information indicative of a first purchase by a customer, establish an aspect of the first purchase as a network authentication credential for the customer, receive a first request to connect to the network from a customer device associated with the customer after completion of the first purchase, transmit a first query to the customer device prompting the customer to input information regarding the aspect of the first purchase, receive a customer-input response to the first query, authenticate the first request by determining that the customer-input response to the first query corresponds to the established aspect of the first purchase, and authorize connection of the customer device to the network based at least in part on the first request being authenticated.

Methods and systems of authenticating a user based on an event, such as a natural disaster, a gathering of people, and mass activities of people. The method comprises recognizing, by a financial institution computing system, an event; receiving, by the financial institution computing system, a transaction request of a user; determining, by the financial institution computing system, that the user is associated with the recognized event; adjusting, by the financial institution computing system, authentication rules for the user; and processing, by the financial institution computing system, the transaction request for the user based on the adjusted authentication rules.

A method including registering, by a computer system of a second financial institution, a recipient using at least one public identifier. The method also can include receiving an expedited funds transfer message. The method additionally can include determining the account number of the recipient account using the private identifier. The method further can include, before the second financial institution receives the sender funds, the second financial institution providing the recipient funds to the recipient account using the account number of the recipient account before the second financial institution receives the sender funds. The method additionally can include notifying the recipient, using at least one of the at least one public identifier, that a payment has been provided to the recipient account in real-time after initiation of the expedited funds transfer message from the first financial institution. Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with bidirectional authorization are described herein. According to one embodiment, a method includes a user receiving a communication from an entity. In response to receiving the communication from the entity, the method further includes generating a token. The token may be personal identification number (PIN), alphanumeric value, code word, pass phrase, or security question. The token is received by a device of the user. Additionally, the token is transmitted to the entity. The user may then receive evidence of the token from the entity.
