An analyte monitor includes a sensor, a sensor control unit, and a display unit. The sensor control unit typically has a housing adapted for placement on skin and is adapted to receive a portion of an electrochemical sensor. The sensor control unit also includes two or more conductive contacts disposed on the housing and configured for coupling to two or more contact pads on the sensor. A transmitter is disposed in the housing and coupled to the plurality of conductive contacts for transmitting data obtained using the sensor. The display unit has a receiver for receiving data transmitted by the transmitter of the sensor control unit and a display coupled to the receiver for displaying an indication of a level of an analyte, such as blood glucose. An inserter having a retractable introducer is provided for subcutaneously implanting the sensor in a predictable and reliable fashion.

A control module for an electrical stimulation system includes an electronic subassembly disposed within an electronics housing. A power assembly extends outwardly from the electronics housing and collectively with the electronics housing forms a sealed cavity. The power assembly includes a power source; a conduit assembly extending from the power source to the electronics housing; and one or more power conductors extending along the conduit assembly and electrically coupling the power source to the electronic subassembly. The control module further includes one or more connector assemblies. Each of the one or more connector assemblies includes a connector lumen configured to receive a lead; connector contacts arranged along the connector lumen and in electrical communication with the electronic subassembly; and connector conductors electrically coupled to the connector contacts.

An implantable control module for an electrical stimulation system includes a housing and a connector shell extending into the housing. The housing and the connector shell collectively form a sealed cavity. The connector shell has a longitudinal length, a sidewall with a cavity-facing surface, a first end open to an environment external to the housing, and an opposing closed second end. The connector shell defines a connector lumen extending within the connector shell and open at the first end to receive a portion of a lead or lead extension. Connector contacts are arranged along the connector lumen within the connector shell. An electronic subassembly is disposed in the sealed cavity. Interconnect conductors electrically couple the electronic subassembly to the connector contacts and extend from the connector shell within the sealed cavity.

An electrical stimulation lead latching kit includes a connector having a housing that defines a lead lumen and a latching lumen that at least partially intersects the lead lumen; and a latching device including a latching pin, a handle, and an attaching element that attaches the latching pin to the handle. The latching pin has a longitudinal surface and is configured for insertion into the latching lumen, and the attaching element is configured to enable the latching pin to detach from the handle when the latching pin is in the latching lumen. When the latching pin is positioned in the latching lumen and a portion of an electrical stimulation lead or lead extension is positioned in the lead lumen, the longitudinal surface of the latching pin engages the electrical stimulation lead or lead extension to latch the electrical stimulation lead or lead extension to the connector.

Toolless connector for latching stimulation leads and methods of making and using

An implantable control module for an electrical stimulation system includes a connector housing including a connector having one or more ports and connector contacts disposed within the connector; a metal electronics housing coupled to the connector housing; an electronic subassembly disposed within the metal electronics housing; and a feedthrough assembly disposed between the connector housing and the metal electronics housing and including at least one non-conductive block and conductive feedthroughs extending through the at least one non-conductive block and electrically coupling the electronic subassembly to the connector contacts. The metal electronics housing includes a metal sheet bent to form at least a portion of the first major surface and at least a portion of the second major surface. The first major surface has a length and includes a first sealed seam extending along an entirety of the length of the first major surface.

An electrical stimulation system provides stimulation therapy to a patient. The system includes a neurostimulation lead that contacts patient tissue and couples with an implantable stimulation device, such as an implantable pulse generator, that receives stimulation parameters for providing stimulation therapy to a patient. The implantable stimulation device includes a header with a plurality of connector assemblies that receive an end of the neurostimulation lead, and a case containing a charging coil and a telemetry coil coupled to programming circuitry on a printed circuit board, which is in turn coupled to the connector assemblies via a feedthrough assembly. The telemetry coil receives data from an external programmer and transmits the data to the programming circuitry, which in turn uses the data to communicate to the connector assemblies and the neurostimulation lead to provide stimulation therapy to a patient.

Implantable medical device for providing stimulation therapy

Designs and methods of construction for an implantable medical device employ an internal support structure. The single-piece support structure holds various electronic components such as a communication coil and a circuit board, and further is affixed to a battery, thus providing a subassembly that is mechanically robust. The support structure further provides electrical isolation between these and other components. A method of construction allows for the subassembly to be adhered to a case of the implantable medical device at the support structure, and possibly also at the battery, without electrically shorting the battery to the case.

Construction for an implantable medical device employing an internal support structure

A sensor utilizing a non-leachable or diffusible redox mediator is described. The sensor includes a sample chamber to hold a sample in electrolytic contact with a working electrode, and in at least some instances, the sensor also contains a non-leachable or a diffusible second electron transfer agent. The sensor and/or the methods used produce a sensor signal in response to the analyte that can be distinguished from a background signal caused by the mediator. The invention can be used to determine the concentration of a biomolecule, such as glucose or lactate, in a biological fluid, such as blood or serum, using techniques such as coulometry, amperometry, and potentiometry. An enzyme capable of catalyzing the electrooxidation or electroreduction of the biomolecule is typically provided as a second electron transfer agent.

Small volume in vitro analyte sensor

A connector for an implantable electrical medical device includes a connector lumen defined in an elongated connector housing and adapted for receiving a portion of a lead. Connector-contact assemblies are disposed in the connector lumen and adapted to couple to terminals of the lead when the lead is received by the connector lumen. Each of the connector-contact assemblies includes a contact body. An inner surface of the contact body defines an open center portion. A first base is disposed along a first end of the contact body, and a second base is disposed along an opposing second end of the contact body and is coupled to the first base. Biasing members are attached to the first base and extend towards the second base. The biasing members are not attached to the second base. When the lead is received by the connector lumen the biasing members physically contact the received lead.
