A method of detecting a thermal event associated with a battery assembly of an electrified vehicle includes, among other things, obtaining a temperature reading from a sensor associated with an area of the battery assembly, assessing whether the sensor is flagged with a first identifier or a second identifier. The first identifier indicates that the temperature reading is reliable. The second identifier indicates that the temperature reading is unreliable. If the sensor is flagged with the first identifier, the method detects a thermal event associated with the battery assembly based on the temperature reading from the sensor.

This disclosure relates to an electrified vehicle and a method for gradually adjusting a displayed state of charge. An exemplary electrified vehicle includes a battery, a display configured to display a state of charge of the battery, and a controller configured to adjust the displayed state of charge such that the displayed state of charge gradually converges to an estimated state of charge of the battery.

This disclosure describes exemplary electrified vehicle charging systems and methods for charging energy storage devices (e.g., battery packs) of the vehicles. An exemplary charging system may be configured to monitor the electrified vehicle for determining whether either a recoverable vehicle fault or a non-recoverable vehicle fault occurs during a charging event and to automatically command a charging sequence restart without unplugging a charging component from a vehicle inlet assembly in response to detecting the recoverable vehicle fault. The control system may also be configured to provide remote notification about the need to unplug and replug the charging component when the non-recoverable fault is detected or when greater than a predefined number of charging sequence restarts have been attempted.

A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and method of operation, which include a battery and a communication unit, which are configured to periodically respond to a charge signal, and to adjust a charge time and battery recharge profile, according to a charge time estimate received from a remote fleet server. The charge time estimate is received in response to periodic operating conditions that are generated and communicated to the server. The operating conditions include one or more of charge station, environment, and location data, vehicle data, and battery performance data, among other data. A vehicle charging system includes a charger configured to receive power form an external power source and a connector. The connector is configured to receive power from the charger and transmit the received power to a vehicle via a high-voltage cable. The cable is configured to connect the connector to a vehicle battery. Each of the charger and the connector includes a high voltage interlock loop (HVIL) configured to cause the charger to cease power transfer upon recognizing a predetermined voltage difference at a pair of ports of the HVIL.
