A mixer assembly for a vehicle exhaust system includes a mixer shell defining an internal cavity, wherein the mixer shell includes an upstream end configured to receive exhaust gases and downstream end, and a reactor positioned within the internal cavity. The reactor has a reactor inlet configured to receive injected fluid and a reactor outlet that directs a mixture of exhaust gas and injected fluid into the internal cavity. An inlet baffle is mounted to the upstream end of the mixer shell. The inlet baffle includes at least one opening that directs exhaust gas into at least one exhaust gas inlet to the reactor and a plurality of bypass openings that direct exhaust gas to bypass entry into the reactor. The inlet baffle includes a crowned portion that curves away from the reactor to provide for an increased open area within the internal cavity between the inlet baffle and the reactor.

A mixer assembly for a vehicle exhaust system includes an inner wall surface and a flow diverter with a flow directing surface that is spaced apart from the inner wall surface to provide an exhaust gas inlet area. The flow directing surface terminates at a distal end that is spaced apart from the inner wall surface to provide an orifice between the distal end and the inner wall surface through which exhaust gas flow accelerates and is directed to flow along the inner wall surface. A vehicle exhaust component assembly that includes the mixer and a method for mixing injected fluid spray into the mixer are also disclosed.

A vehicle exhaust system includes an injector assembly having an injector mount configured to mount an injector to an exhaust component. The injector mount includes a spray opening surrounding a spray axis. An injector housing extends from an inlet end that receives exhaust gases to an outlet end. The inlet end defines a planar area that is transverse to the spray axis. A spray protector extends axially from the injector mount to break the planar area. A vehicle exhaust system includes an injector assembly having a cone positioned adjacent to an injector mount and which extends from an upstream inlet end to a downstream outlet end. Engine exhaust gas and injected spray enter the inlet end of the cone to mix with each other prior to exiting the cone via the outlet end. The cone has a narrowing body portion located downstream of the inlet end to accelerate flow during mixing. A vehicle exhaust component assembly comprising a mixer with the injector assembly and a method for injecting a fluid into an exhaust component using the injector assembly are also disclosed.

A vehicle exhaust system includes an exhaust component having an inner wall to define an internal cavity that provides an engine exhaust gas flow path from an inlet to an outlet. An injector is configured to spray a fluid into the internal cavity to mix with engine exhaust gas. An inlet baffle is mounted to the exhaust component adjacent the inlet and includes at least one scoop having a scoop length that is greater than a scoop width. The scoop includes a scoop opening that directs engine exhaust gas toward the inner wall of the internal cavity at a location that is upstream of spray injected by the injector.
