Devices and techniques for status management in storage backed memory are disclosed herein. An encoded message can be received at a first interface of the memory package. Here, the memory package also includes a second interface to a host. The message can be decoded to obtain a decoded message that includes an attribute. The attribute can be compared a set of attributes that correspond to an advertised status of the memory package. The comparison enables a determination that the attribute is in the set of attributes. The advertised status of the memory package can then be modified in response to the determination that the attribute is in the set of attributes.

Status management in storage backed memory package

A variety of applications can include systems and/or methods of partial save of memory in an apparatus such as a non-volatile dual in-line memory module. In various embodiments, a set of control registers of a non-volatile dual in-line memory module can be configured to contain an identification of a portion of dynamic random-access memory of the non-volatile dual in-line memory module from which to back up content to non-volatile memory of the non-volatile dual in-line memory module. Registers of the set of control registers may also be allotted to contain an amount of content to transfer from the dynamic random-access memory content to the non-volatile memory. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Partial save of memory

Devices and techniques for firmware update in storage backed memory are disclosed herein. A firmware image can be stored to a volatile portion of the memory package in response to receiving the firmware image via a first interface of the memory package. A save indication can be received at a second interface of the memory package. The firmware image can be transferred from the volatile portion of the memory package to a non-volatile portion of the memory package based on the save indication. A firmware update indication can be received at the second interface. A firmware update of the memory package can be performed based on the firmware update indication.

Firmware update in a storage backed memory system

A method to protect against system memory configuration data loss and/or corruption includes obtaining configuration data from a computer system memory module, determining if the obtained configuration data is incorrect, and repairing the configuration data of the memory module if the obtained configuration data is incorrect. A computer system providing memory configuration data protection includes a random access memory having one or more modules (each memory module having module configuration data), a nonvolatile storage element having configuration data for each of the memory modules stored thereon, and a processor module adapted to determine if the configuration data from one of the memory modules is incorrect and, if it is, use at least a portion of the configuration data stored in the nonvolatile storage element to replace at least a portion of the configuration data of the memory module having the incorrect configuration data.

Memory configuration data protection

A monitor system for computer equipment under test comprising a system monitor in communication with a storage element and a status indicator. The system monitor scans video memory for values indicative of a pass, fail or test in progress condition. The system monitor also determines if the computer equipment has failed to respond to testing resulting in a locked up 'frozen' condition. The status indicator communicates with an external port of the computer equipment to receive and display signals from the system monitor indicative of the test status. In addition, when the computer equipment fails to respond to testing, the system monitor communicates with a storage element to capture detailed information related to the condition of the computer equipment. The storage element may reside within the computer equipment under test or may be distributed across a local or wide area network in communication with the computer equipment under test.
