A faucet handle includes a safety lock. The safety lock includes a latch that is manually movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position. The latch is adapted to engage an associated catch when the latch is in its engaged position. The safety lock also includes a primary lock element that moves between a locked position and an unlocked position. The primary lock element prevents movement of the latch from its engaged position to its disengaged position when the primary lock element is in its locked position. The primary lock element allows movement of the latch from its engaged position to its disengaged position when the primary lock element is in its unlocked position. A faucet including the handle requires three steps to dispense liquid: (i) movement of the primary lock to its unlocked position; (ii) movement of the latch to its disengaged position; and (iii) movement of the handle to its liquid dispensing position.

A valve includes a body; a liquid flow passage defined in the body and including a liquid inlet and a liquid outlet; a vent passage defined in the body and including an air inlet and an air outlet; a valve seat defined in the liquid flow passage; a liquid seal located adjacent the valve seat; a stem connected to the liquid seal and extending in the liquid flow passage away from the liquid seal through an aperture defined in the body. The stem includes a distal end located external to the body. The stem is movable to and from a first position where the liquid seal is mated with the valve seat and a second position where the liquid seal is unseated from the valve seat. An actuator is connected to the distal end of the stem. The actuator is selectively movable to move the stem from the first position to the second position. A check-valve is adapted to block flow of liquid from the air outlet to the air inlet in the vent passage, and to allow flow of air from the air inlet to the air outlet in said vent passage. The valve optionally further includes a surge control device and/or a keeper for the check-valve seal.

Vented valve

A modular air gap device adapted for selective insertion into an associated faucet body and comprises a base, an inlet nipple defining an inlet passage and an outlet nipple defining an outlet passage. The inlet and outlet nipples project outwardly from the base in a first direction. An gap structure is connected to the base and projects outwardly therefrom in a second direction opposite the inlet and outlet nipples. The base and air gap structure are adapted for receipt within an air gap chamber of a faucet body. The air gap structure defines a flow path having a first end in direct fluid communication with the inlet passage of the inlet nipple and a second end spaced from the outlet passage of the outlet nipple so that an air gap is defined between the second end of the flow path and the outlet passage. A faucet including the air gap device defines a vent for venting the air gap chamber.

A dispensing valve comprises a first component comprising a body adapted to be secured in fluid communication to a fitment of a liquid container. The body defines a first flow passage that extends therethrough. The first flow passage has an inlet. A valve assembly is connected to said body. The valve assembly comprises: (i) a seal retaining body defining a second flow passage that communicates with said inlet of said first flow passage; and, (ii) a resilient seal member located in said second flow passage and resiliently urged into sealing engagement with the inlet to block fluid flow from the second flow passage into the first flow passage via the inlet. The dispensing valve further comprises an outlet spout that defines a bore that extends from and through a first end to and through a second end. The first end of the spout is slidably coupled to the first component, and the spout is selectively moveable slidably inward toward the first component to a position where the seal member is moved resiliently away from the inlet to allow fluid flow from the second flow passage to the first flow passage through the inlet. The spout can comprise a vent structure to facilitate escape of air from the receptacle container with which it is mated. A container including the dispensing valve is also disclosed.

A seat cup seal for a valve includes a base portion and a nipple portion projecting outwardly from the base portion. The nipple portion and said base portion define a blind bore about a longitudinal axis that opens in the base portion. The nipple portion defines a transverse end wall at an outermost end relative to the base that is adapted for sealingly engaging an associated valve seat. A flexible shoulder portion interconnects the base portion and the nipple portion so that said nipple portion is selectively movable between a first, relaxed position where the transverse end wall is spaced a first distance from the base and a second, retracted position where the transverse end wall is spaced a second distance from the base, with the second distance being less than the first distance. A plurality of biasing ribs projects outwardly from and extending between the base portion and the nipple portion. The biasing ribs, which are conformed in one of several suitable arrangements, bias or urge the nipple portion toward the first position when it is in its second position. In this manner, the seat cup does not require a coil spring or other separate biasing agent to urge the transverse end wall into sealing engagement with the associated valve seat.
