A light assembly coupled to a spray gun for spraying electrostatically charged coating material is disclosed. The spray gun includes a gun body comprising a barrel, a nozzle assembly extending from the barrel in a longitudinal direction, a voltage multiplier, and an actuator assembly configured to transition the voltage multiplier between an activated state and a deactivated state. The light assembly includes a light and circuitry electrically connected to the light. The circuitry is configured to supply electrical energy inductively obtained by the circuitry to the light when the voltage multiplier is in the activated state. The light assembly can also include a housing, a lens cover releasably attached to the housing, and a control member for changing a characteristic of the light.

A color changer has a common feed passage that is connected to two or more inlet passages. The common feed passage can be reverse purged in a direction that is opposite a direction of powder flow through the common feed passage. A valve element seals a supply port that connects the inlet passage to the common feed passage to eliminate dead space and form a near bore line seal. The valve element is an elastic material that expands in response to applied compressed air inside the valve element.

Overspray collection apparatus comprises an extraction duct () between two sloped floors () with unobstructed inlet slots () on either side thereof. The extraction duct () comprises two moveable panels () pivotally mounted to the sloped floors (). Each moveable panel () pivots about an axis that is offset from a lower portion of the moveable panel and a lower portion of the sloped floor. In another embodiment, the pivotal mount comprises an offset hinge. The overspray extraction duct () comprises a duct floor () and an air diffuser assembly () that extends at least partially across the duct floor. The air diffuser assembly () receives pressurized air and directs pressurized air into the extraction duct (), whereby the pressurized air may be pulsed. The overspray extraction duct () comprises a suction hood () that includes moveable panels (). Optional actuators may apply a force impulse to one or more of the moveable panels (), and/or to open and close the suction hood () automatically.

A nozzle for a powder spray gun optionally includes an internal filter that allows air to be added to the powder flow within the nozzle shell. The nozzle may optionally include an off-axis outlet slot relative to a main flow axis of the powder into the nozzle shell so that powder encounters an obstruction before exiting through the outlet slot.

A powder spray for lengthy parts includes a booth wall structure comprised primarily of doors. A moveable roof may be raised and lowered to clean powder overspray from the interior surfaces of the booth. A cleaning process may be performed with a sideways extraction mode and a downward extraction mode. The mode change occurs when a bulkhead that travels with the moveable roof blocks the inlet duct to the recovery system. The recovery system may be a cyclone system for example. The doors of the booth are hinged so that they can be positioned for spraying operations and cleaning operations. Live hinge designs are provided and hose stress relief designs are also provided. The roof may carry accumulators for pressurized air that feed cleaning nozzles as the roof descends. In addition, exhaust air may be used to assist cleaning the interior surfaces as the roof descends. All of the energy provided for cleaning and color change may be provided by accumulators.

A spray gun includes a handle portion and an extension portion. A nozzle is connected with an outer end of the extension portion. An electrode assembly is disposed in the extension portion to establish an electrical field to electrostatically charge particles of coating material. A coating material flow control member and a purge air flow control member are disposed on the handle portion. Operation of either one of the two flow control members actuates a membrane switch assembly. Operation of the purge air flow control member directs the flow of air to the coating material passage in the extension portion to remove excess coating material from the passage and from the nozzle. Different size hand grips may be mounted on the handle portion of the spray gun to accommodate operators having hands of different sizes. Passages for air and electrical conductors are formed in the handle and extension portions of the spray gun by cooperation between outer side walls of the handle and extension portions and inner wall structures. A voltage multiplier unit in the extension portion of the spray gun is exposed to a flow of air to transfer heat from the voltage multiplier.

An improved power supply for an electrostatic spray gun device having a voltage multiplier circuit adjusts to variations in the output load conditions of the multiplier circuit and dynamically modifies the operational loadline of the multiplier circuit in order to maintain optimal operating conditions for the spray gun device notwithstanding output load variations. The power supply utilizes a loadline manipulation circuit coupled to a feedback circuit that monitors the output load, and the manipulation circuit, in response to a feedback signal from the feedback circuit that is proportional to the output load, varies the input voltage level to the multiplier circuit to modify the loadline of the power supply in response to varying load conditions. The manipulator means of the power supply has memory means to store a variety of external commands which will control the manipulation means and a user interface to enter the external commands into the memory. The power supply also comprises a voltage limiting circuit coupled to the output of the multiplier circuit which regulates the output voltage level of the multiplier circuit so that when the output load current increases above a predetermined maximum level the output voltage is reduced to reduce the high voltage stress on the multiplier circuit and high voltage circuitry and reduce the amount of insulation that must surround the multiplier circuit and high voltage circuitry of the power supply in order to insulate it from ground potential.
