Isomerized olefin products are produced by contacting an olefin feed containing a Cto Cnormal alpha olefin, a solid acid catalyst, and a Cto Cprimary ester to form the isomerized olefin product. Typical primary esters used in the processes include formates and acetates. Linear olefin compositions are produced that contain at least 80 wt. % Cto Clinear internal olefins, less than 8 wt. % Cto Cnormal alpha olefins, less than 8 wt. % dimers of Cto Colefins, less than 15 wt. % Cto Cbranched olefins, and at least 1 wt. % Cto Cprimary ester and less than 8 wt. % secondary esters.

Isomerization of linear olefins with solid acid catalysts and primary esters

Processes for producing a linear internal olefin product include the steps of contacting an olefin feed containing C-Cvinylidenes and a C-Cnormal alpha olefin and/or C-Clinear internal olefins, a first acid catalyst, and a Cto Ccarboxylic acid to form a first reaction product containing linear internal olefins, trisubstituted olefins, and secondary esters, then removing all or a portion of the secondary esters from the first reaction product, followed by contacting the secondary esters and a second acid catalyst to form a second reaction product comprising linear internal olefins, and then removing all or a portion of the linear internal olefins from the second reaction product to form the linear internal olefin product. Linear alkanes subsequently can be produced by hydrogenating the linear internal olefin product to form a linear alkane product.

Phosphinyl amidine compounds, metal complexes, catalyst systems, and their use to oligomerize or polymerize olefins

The present application relates to method for oligomerizing olefin or for producing polyalphaolefin utilizing catalyst mixtures comprising aluminum halides and an organic liquid carrier. A process comprising contacting 1) a catalyst mixture comprising i) an aluminum trihalide and ii) an organic liquid carrier comprising first olefins, wherein the organic liquid carrier first olefins comprise at least 60 mole % 1,2-disubstituted olefins, trisubstituted olefins, or any combination thereof; and 2) a monomer comprising second olefins to form an oligomer product. An oligomer product produced by the process comprising contacting 1) a catalyst mixture comprising i) an aluminum trihalide and ii) an organic liquid carrier comprising first olefins, wherein the organic liquid carrier olefins comprise at least 75 mole % 1,2-disubstituted olefins, trisubstituted olefins, or any combination thereof; and 2) a monomer comprising second olefins to form an oligomer product.

Method for making polyalphaolefins using aluminum halide catalyzed oligomerization of olefins

Secondary esters, methods of making, and uses thereof

The present invention discloses processes for oligomerizing a monomer containing internal olefins using a solid acid catalyst. Illustrative monomers can contain at least 50 wt. % Cto Cinternal olefins.

Disclosed herein is a polymer useful in a method of forming a wellbore fluid additive. This polymer comprises a polyethylene backbone comprising pendant aminoalkylsulfonic acid amides which comprise a carbonyl directly attached to a backbone carbon, and an amide formed via the amine group from the aminoalkylsulfonic acid. Methods of preparing these polymers by addition of the aminoalkylsulfonic acid to a polymeric anhydride are disclosed.
