The present invention generally relates to fluorescent marking compositions and their use to determine whether a surface has been cleaned. More particularly, the marking compositions comprise fluorescent polymers.

Disclosed are methods of using nitrogen-containing compounds as corrosion inhibitors. The present method is used to inhibit corrosion of a metal surface in contact with an aqueous system using 2-substituted imidazoles and 2-substituted benzimidazoles, and provides enhanced protection against corrosion of metals in the aqueous system. The method comprises the use of corrosion inhibitors that are generally resistant to halogen attack and provide good corrosion resistance in the presence of oxidizing halogen-based biocides. Formulations comprising 2-substituted imidazoles and 2-substituted benzimidazoles are also disclosed.

2-substituted imidazole and benzimidazole corrosion inhibitors

Corrosion inhibitors and methods for reducing or inhibiting corrosion of metals in aqueous systems are provided. Corrosion inhibitor compositions may include tetracarboxylic acids, such as butane tetracarboxylic acid. The compositions may include other components, such as zinc, molybdate, silicate, cerium, among others. The compositions may also include polymers or oligomers. The corrosion inhibitor compositions produced synergistic results and unexpectedly low corrosion rates.

Tetracarboxylic acid combinations for corrosion inhibition

Disclosed are nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds of relatively low aquatic toxicity and methods of using the heterocyclic compounds as corrosion inhibitors. Fluorescent monomers and tagged treatment polymers containing same for use in industrial water systems

Disclosed are novel compounds and methods useful in applications relating to industrial water systems. The compounds of the present invention are nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds comprising a benzotriazole covalently bonded to a benzimidazole moiety, and provide enhanced protection against corrosion of metals in aqueous systems. The invention provides a method of controlling biological fouling of water containing items. The method involves combining at least two reactants, a peroxygen source and an acyl group donor to form peracetic acid. Because the peracetic acid can be made in situ, the entire sum of its short lifespan can be used controlling biocidal fouling and storage and transport is simplified. The invention further facilitates the ease of controlling biocidal fouling by allowing the injection of the biocidal agent in liquid form, in a non-acidic environment, and without the need for any halogen. This allows the inventive biocide to be used with chemistries for which prior art biocides are inapplicable.
