Methods and apparatuses including apparatuses that can be used in a unicompartmental knee replacement procedure, a bicompartmental knee replacement procedure comprised of two unicompartmental knee replacements, a knee replacement procedure that utilizes a single femoral component and two unicompartmental tibial components, and other types of knee replacement procedures are disclosed. According to one example, an apparatus for guiding a tibial bone cut during knee replacement surgery is disclosed. The apparatus can comprise a mounting portion and a cutting portion. The mounting portion can be configured to couple with an alignment mechanism. The cutting portion can be connected to the mounting portion and can define a capture for a proximal cut. The cutting portion can have an aperture disposed adjacent a first end of the capture.

Tibial cut guide

An impaction cradle () for supporting a femoral () or tibial () implant on a planar support surface such as a tabletop. The impaction cradle can orient the femoral or tibial implant on the impaction cradle such that an attachment feature of the implant for an intramedullary stem or metaphyseal sleeve is aligned with a vertical plane or parallel to the true vertical axis. In this position, the intramedullary stem or metaphyseal sleeve can be impacted along a generally vertical axis to drive the intramedullary stem or metaphyseal sleeve along an impaction axis parallel to a true vertical axis or positioned within a vertical plane. The generally vertical impaction angle can be easier for medical practitioners to accurately impact the intramedullary stem or metaphyseal sleeve, which lowers the risk of damage to the intramedullary stem, metaphyseal sleeve, or the femoral or tibial implant.

Impaction cradle

An orthopedic device holder and related kit are disclosed. The orthopedic device holder can include a body portion having a proximal end and a distal end, the body portion defining a bore positioned between the proximal end and the distal end, a plunger portion having a proximal end and a distal end, the plunger portion extending into an opening of the body portion and defining a second bore, and a locking lever that, when activated, is configured to move between a first position and a second position and transition the first bore and the second bore from a locked configuration to an unlocked configuration.

Orthopedic device holder

According to one example, a for revision knee arthroplasty is disclosed. According to this example, the method can include shaping a bone of a patient to create one or more recesses therein, selecting a stem provisional, disposing the stem provisional within the one or more recesses, and assembling in vivo the stem provisional with both a first provisional component configured to simulate a shape of one of a tibial tray implant or a femoral implant and a second provisional component configured to simulate a shape of at least one of a sleeve component, a cone component or a keel component of an implant.

Revision knee arthroplasty methods and instruments

Apparatuses and systems including at least one of mounting and removal of a femoral component on a femur are disclosed. The instrument can include a handle, a plunger, first and second arms and a knob. The handle can define a recess. The recess can extend along a portion of an elongate length of the handle. The plunger can be moveably disposed within the recess and can be configured to extend through an opening in a distal end of the handle to engage a pad to contact the pad against the femoral component. The first and second arms can be pivotally coupled to the handle and can be pivotable relative to one another. The first and second arms can each have at least one coupling feature configured to engage with a corresponding second coupling feature in the femoral component. The knob can be configured to operatively actuate the plunger to move the plunger proximal/distal within the recess to engage the plunger with and disengage the plunger from the pad. The instrument can reduce surgical time by providing a secure grasping and manipulation of the femoral component.

Femoral inserter and retractor

Methods and apparatuses including an apparatus for guiding a femoral bone cut during knee replacement surgery are disclosed. The apparatus can comprise a cut guide having a first side, a second side, a third side, and one or more slots. The first side can be configured to interface with a resected surface of a femur. The second side can be spaced from the first side. The one or more slots can be defined by the apparatus and extend from the first side to the second side. The third side can be disposed between the first side and the second side and can have at least one projection extending therefrom. The at least one projection can be configured to guide a cutting tool into the one or more slots.

Femoral finishing guide

Tools or other instruments can be used by a surgeon to complete an orthopedic procedure. One tool can include a resection tower and a valgus guide. The resection tower can include a cutting block and a dial coupled with the cutting block. The resection tower can be configured such that rotational movement of the dial, about an axis, effectuates movement of the cutting block along a plane substantially parallel with the axis. The dial, when rotated in a first direction, can move between a first position, which corresponds to a minimum cutting depth of the cutting block, and a second position, which corresponds to a maximum cutting depth of the cutting block. The valgus guide can be coupled with the resection tower and includes a rotatable member. The rotatable member can include an angular surface with one or more variable depth splines providing varus/valgus angle adjustment of the cutting block.

Surgical cutting guide

A provisional femoral component, in one embodiment, including at least one first visual indicator and at least one second visual indicator, the first and second visual indicators providing indicating means for simultaneously visually representing a first profile of a first femoral prosthesis and a second profile of a second femoral prosthesis. In another embodiment, a provisional femoral component including a patellofemoral flange having two sulci and a central ridge between the two sulci. In this manner, the provisional femoral component can be positioned on a resected distal femur surface of both a right and left knee joint.

Femoral prosthesis system

A tibial prosthesis has a bearing component configured for an anterior-medial insertion, which advantageously avoids the extensor mechanism of the knee. A tibial tray may include a banana-shaped boss that corresponds to a notch formed in the bearing component. After the bearing component is inserted along the anterior-medial path, the boss is received within the notch by rotating the bearing component with respect to the tibial tray. This rotation seat the bearing component upon the tibial tray in the manner of a fixed-bearing prosthesis. Alternatively, the boss and notch may define angled central axes which allow straight anterior-medial insertion of the bearing component and locking engagement to the tibial tray.

A femoral component instrument includes a rotatable locking mechanism such as a post and is capable of interchangeable use between posterior stabilizing ('PS') and cruciate retaining ('CR') femoral component types via the locking mechanism. The instrument further includes a modular pad so that a pad specific to the prosthesis type may be chosen. Each pad of a particular femoral component type is useable with a variety of sizes of that femoral component type. The locking mechanism of the instrument is alternatively useable with a variety of femoral component types. The locking end of the post keys to a pad aperture to rotatably align the post to an appropriate securement position. If a femoral component is not locked to the pad, the post of the instrument moves from an exposed position proximal to the proximal pad surface to a retracted position distal to the proximal pad surface, thereby permitting impaction.

Femoral component instrument

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for preparing a distal end of a femur for receiving a knee prosthesis. A method can include installing a valgus guide onto an intermedullary rod, coupling a drill guide with said valgus guide, resting a boom tip of said drill guide on a high part of the femur, drilling a hole into a distal portion of a medial condyle using a first drill hole of said drill guide and drilling a hole into a distal portion of a lateral condyle using a second drill hole of said drill guide, and, subsequent to drilling the first and second drill holes, resecting the distal portion of the medial condyle of the femur and the distal portion of the lateral condyle of the femur. A system can include a valgus guide, a drill guide, and a resection tower, among other things.
