A system, to persist state in a dynamic electronic form, may include a communications module to receive a request to certify a template associated with an electronic form, an attribute detector to determine that the template is associated with a restore state attribute and a certification module. The certification module may be configured to selectively grant the request to certify the template based on the restore state attribute.

Method and system to maintain the integrity of a certified document while persisting state in a dynamic form

In one example embodiment, a system and method is shown that includes identifying a host setting related to a property of a document data structure and a property of a fragment data structure, the document data structure reflecting an organization of a document, and the fragment data structure reflecting an organization of a portion of the document. Additionally, the system and method may include overriding the property of the fragment data structure using the property of the document data structure, if the host setting includes a command that the property of the fragment data structure is to be overridden by the property of the document data structure.

Digitally signing data for multiple encodings is disclosed. A first signature of the data is generated. A second signature of a second encoding of the data is generated. The first signature and the second signature are associated with the signed data.

Verifying signatures for multiple encodings

In some embodiments, a method includes receiving an electronic document that comprising a list of one or more features specified for use during processing of the electronic document by an application. The method also includes determining if one or more specified features from the list of specified features is not supported by the application. The method includes executing an operation that is defined by a prescription associated with one or more specified features, in response to a determination that the one or more specified features is not supported by the application, wherein the prescription defines at least one of an operation to be performed or a restriction to be applied by the application as part of subsequent processing of the electronic document.

Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a form author may declaratively state a condition under which a break event may occur to insert a break between data items in a list of data items. Optionally, formatting, a leader subform, and/or a trailer subform may be inserted between the data items in the event the condition is satisfied. Such a declarative condition may be introduced into an XFA template specification. A condition that may be evaluated may include mathematical operation, a Boolean expression, an integer expression, a floating point expression, a string expression, and/or a data item evaluation. A new layout of the list of data items may be implemented without transformation of the original layout of the list of data items wherein the list of data items may revert to the original layout of the list of data items, for example after performing an operation on the new layout of the list of data items.

Declarative, non-transformational layout of data

Signatures for multiple encodings is disclosed. In some embodiments, signatures for multiple encodings includes receiving a first signature of digitally signed data included in a first document having a first document encoding; receiving a second signature of digitally signed data included in the first document having a second document encoding; receiving a third signature of digitally signed data included in a canonicalized version of the first document having a canonical encoding, in which canonicalizing the first document includes providing a different order of data within the first document based on a canonical ordering; selecting a signature from the received first signature, the received second signature, and the received third signature, in which the first signature, the second signature, and the third signature are associated with the first document to provide a digitally signed first document; and verifying the digitally signed data using the selected signature.

A method generates a document by: inserting one or more placeholders in the document; binding each placeholder to a content source; and compiling the placeholders into code to generate content for the document based on the content source. The method then executes the code to generate the content and presenting the content of the document if in a presentation mode or restores the placeholder if in an edit mode.

A system, to persist state in a dynamic electronic form, may include a communications module to receive a request to load an electronic form, a merge module to merge a template associated with the electronic form and data values associated with the electronic form, a delta extractor to access delta data associated with the electronic form, and an overlay module to overlay the delta data onto the electronic form. The delta data, in an example embodiment, includes attributes and properties associated with the electronic form that are being designated to persist between editing sessions of the electronic form.

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implement techniques for accessing elements of structured source data. Sample data that is capable of being represented as a hierarchy of elements is received. A graphical representation of the hierarchy of elements is presented. User input is received selecting one or more elements in the graphical representation of the hierarchy of elements. A template structure is defined based on the selected elements. Source data is accessed according to the template structure.

A translator for translating server-side instructions includes a set of rules for translating server-side instructions from a first grammar to a second different grammar and a translation engine, such as an extensible style-sheet language translator (XSLT), for translating the server-side instructions based on the set of rules.

Transforming server-side processing grammars

A method of generating a definition for a collection of source documents is provided. Patterns common to each source document in the collection of source documents are identified and restrictive general rules based on the identified common patterns are then constructed for element types. The construction of a restricted general rule includes constructing a content model that specifies the sequence order and number of occurrences of sub-elements within the common pattern. It further includes constructing attribute definitions and values rules for attributes occurring in the common patterns. Also provided is a method of converting a format of a first source document to a format of a similarly structured second source document is provided. The method identifies patterns common to the first and second source documents and maps elements and sub-elements in common pattern of the first source document to equivalent elements and sub-elements in the common pattern of the second source document.
