Convertible monuments for aircraft cabins that house at least one lavatory can comprise moveable wall sections that can be reversibly deployed from a stowed configuration to a deployed configuration to form a temporary convertible monument having a monument footprint that overlaps at least a portion of an aircraft interior egress pathway during flight, and efficiently uses previously unused aircraft interior space during aircraft flight.

Visual inspection methods, systems, and apparatuses are presented for the in situ visual inspection of aircraft cabin windows installed in an aircraft from within an aircraft cabin, and where access and ability to visually inspect such aircraft cabin windows is otherwise restricted by placement of aircraft cabin fixtures blocking ordinary viewing of such aircraft cabin window from within an aircraft cabin. Reactive spoilers for aircraft and associated methods. In one embodiment, a wing of an aircraft includes a leading edge, a trailing edge, and an upper surface and a lower surface between the leading edge and the trailing edge. The wing further includes a reactive spoiler disposed on the upper surface between the leading edge and the trailing edge. The reactive spoiler comprises one or more turbines configured to raise in relation to the upper surface into an airflow passing over the upper surface, and to reduce lift of a wing section behind the turbines. The turbines are configured to convert kinetic energy from the airflow into electrical energy.

Apparatuses and methods are described for use of an ultraviolet (UV) light source, such as in a cleaning device, in which ozone creation due to reaction of the UV light with oxygen in the air is reduced. An example method includes dispersing, by a gas outlet, oxygen-depleted gas over a UV light source, and directing UV light from the UV light source to pass through the oxygen-depleted gas onto an area. An example apparatus includes a UV light source to direct UV light onto an area, and a gas outlet to disperse oxygen-depleted gas over the UV light source, such that the UV light passes through the oxygen-depleted gas onto the area.
