A lens structure for a light emitting diode (LED) lighting fixture includes one or more lenses, each of which is configured to be located over an LEDs of the lighting fixture. Each lens includes a bowl-shaped collimator, an air gap positioned over the dome and extending into a first end of the collimator, and a core positioned over the air gap and extending into an opposing second end of the collimator.

A lighting control system includes a device controller containing control circuitry that is configured to control drive currents delivered to a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) of a lighting device. The control circuitry generates commands to compensate for failed LEDs in the plurality of LEDs by controlling drive currents delivered to a group of LEDs so that the illuminance level of light detected by an illuminance sensor will not substantially change because of the failed LED, if the voltage across the group of LEDs is less than the threshold amount. The control circuitry also controls the plurality of LEDs in response to data received from a sensor configured to measure a characteristic value of light received from the lighting device, by controlling drive currents delivered to the LEDs if the detected characteristic value of light from the lighting device has moved above or below a threshold.

A lighting system includes a group of light emitting diode (LED) illumination devices, each of which includes a device driver. One or more sensors are configured to measure a characteristic of light received from the devices in an area of an environment that is illuminated by the devices. A controller detects when a value of the measured light characteristic received by a sensor deviates from a desired value. When this happens, the controller will cause the device drivers for each of the LED illumination devices to control LEDs in each illumination device so that the desired color temperature of light will be received at the location of the sensor while maintaining a substantially constant illuminance level at the location.

A lighting device includes a light emitting diode (LED) structure having LEDs, a housing, and a power supply. The housing receives and secures the LED structure, and includes a body portion that comprises a heat sink for the LED structure, and a shroud that at least partially shields the LED structure. The heat sink comprises various fins that extend away from the LED module in a direction that is perpendicular to a width of the LED structure.

A lighting system includes a group of light emitting diode (LED) illumination devices. A controller may identify a set of the illumination devices that correspond to a zone, and to generate commands to cause the device drivers for each of the identified illumination devices to control its corresponding illumination device so that a specified color temperature, illuminance level, or both of light will be received at a location in the zone. A method for calibrating such a system is also disclosed. A user interface allows a user to select a scene after the calibration is complete.

A lighting system includes an external sensor that is configured to measure a characteristic value of light received from the lighting system in a location of an environment that is illuminated by the lighting system, and a lighting device. The lighting device includes a plurality of LEDs that include a first group of LEDs that exhibit a first color temperature and a second group of LEDs that exhibit a second color temperature, a housing, and a device controller containing control circuitry that is configured to receive data from the external sensor and automatically alter a characteristic of light emitted by one or more of the LEDs in response to the received data. The housing may include an opening that receives and secures the plurality of LEDs, a body portion that provides a heat sink for the plurality of LEDs, and a power supply.

A light fixture includes a light emitting diode (LED) structure, a housing with one or more sensors, and control circuitry that is configured to receive data from the sensor and automatically alter characteristics of light emitted by the LEDs in the fixture in response to the received data.

A lighting system includes a group of light emitting diode (LED) illumination devices. A user interface allows a user to select a scene that corresponds to a requirement to direct light of a specified color temperature and illuminance level to a location. A controller may cause the processor to identify a set of the illumination devices that correspond to the scene, and to generate commands to cause the device drivers for each of the identified illumination devices to control its corresponding illumination device so that the specified color temperature and illuminance level of light will be received at the location. A system and method for calibrating such a system is also disclosed.
