A surgical navigation system is provided to create a plan to correct a deformed spinal alignment. A processor is configured to obtain a first set of image data associated with a deformed alignment in a spine of a patient from at least one imaging device. The processor is also configured to process the first set of image data to identify a set of deformed alignment parameters associated with the deformed alignment. The processor is further configured to identify a set of corrected alignment parameters. The processor is also configured to process the first set of image data, the set of deformed alignment parameters, and the set of corrected alignment parameters to generate a correction plan to surgically manipulate the deformed alignment to the preferred alignment. The processor is additionally configured to provide navigation through the correction plan to facilitate surgical manipulation of a patient spine to the preferred alignment. The processor is also configured to receive information relating to forces on a rod-link reducer or surgical implants from strain gauges to aid the correction plan.

Methods for robotic assistance and navigation in spinal surgery and related systems

Provided are rod coupler devices, systems, kits and methods, which include at least one saddle having a concave configuration that either abuts a bone fastener and/or a locking cap and is shaped so as to contact the rod in two or more lines of contact, which reduces pressure on the rod, and therefore permits use of a rod having various materials, such as PEEK, without significant deformation of the rod. Also provided is the saddle itself and integrated locking caps that include a saddle, the locking cap and a set screw. Also provided are elongate rods having advantageous shapes, configurations, and/or compositions for rod coupler devices, systems and methods. Further provided are screw and cap devices and systems that themselves include a concave configuration so as to contact a rod in two or more lines of contact, which reduces pressure on the rod.

Rod coupling systems and devices and methods of making and using the same

Navigated force sensing instrument, systems, and methods. The navigated force sensing instruments may be used for applying forces to correct the spine, for example, in compression, distraction, reduction, and/or derotation. The trackable instrument includes markers viewable and trackable by a navigation system, including rigid and movable markers. The trackable instrument includes a flexible portion located between the rigid and movable markers. When a surgical task is performed, the markers indicate the amount of force applied to the instrument and/or a stiffness of the spine.

Navigated force sensing instruments

Interbody fusion devices including deployable fixation members. The implant may include a spacer, optionally, an end member coupled to the spacer, and one or more fixation members configured to extend into adjacent vertebrae. An implantable growing rod assembly adapted to be secured along a length of a spine for treating deformities of the spine. The assembly includes a housing, a fixed rod extending along a longitudinal axis away from the housing, and an expansion rod extendible from the housing along the longitudinal axis. A driver assembly is fixed to the housing and adapted to translate the expansion rod along the longitudinal axis. Examples of the implantable growing rod assembly include a smart growing system, and an autonomous growing rod system.

The orthopedic fixation device may include a coupling element and a bone fastener, whereby the bone fastener can be loaded into the coupling element through the bottom of a bore in the coupling element and a retention member is configured to allow polyaxial rotation of the bone fastener and also to lock the bone fastener in place upon application of a force on a saddle and clamp in the coupling element.

Orthopedic fixation devices and methods of installation thereof

Orthopedic fixation devices including a pre-assembled double headed tulip assembly, having two tulip elements to receive rods, wherein the assembly may receive a bone fastener in at least one of the tulip elements. At least one of the tulip elements may include a saddle and a ring to attach the double headed tulip to a bone fastener.

Modular orthopedic implants, associated instruments, and navigation methods. The modular orthopedic fixation assembly may include a modular bone fastener and a modular tulip head configured to be installed separately. The modular bone fastener may be installed and tracked with a screw extender instrument having an outer sleeve and an inner shaft coupled to the bone fastener. The screw extender instrument may continue to track the location and orientation of the bone throughout the surgical procedure for navigational integrity. The modular tulip head may be assembled to the bone fastener with a head inserter instrument, which ensures the modular head is properly seated on the installed bone fastener.

Systems and methods include solutions for fixation at the rib head for fractures and osteotomies adjacent to the rib head and transverse process. The disclosed rib plates, anchor systems, other implants, and instrumentation may also be applied to mid-rib fractures. The orthopedic fixation device may include a tulip head, a bone fastener, a rotatable saddle, and a threaded locking cap. The saddle may be insertable into the tulip head in an unlocked position with a rod seat offset relative to a rod slot of the tulip head. The saddle may be rotated into a locked position with the rod seat aligned with the rod slot such that a rod is positionable through the rod slot and into the rod seat. The threaded locking cap may secure the rod and bone fastener.

Growing rod for treating spinal deformities and method for using same

Implants, systems, and methods for securing a flexible band, thereby providing a desired correction to the spine. The implant may secure the flexible band to patient anatomy without the use of pedicle screws or spinal rods. The implant may include a locking member configured to secure the band. The band may be looped around bony anatomy and tensioned to achieve correction and provide fixation as an alternative to pedicle screws and spinal rods during spinal deformity surgery.
