System and method uses a defined entity type that describes a data structure of a defined computing entity and at least one behavior of the defined computing entity based on user input information. The at least one behavior of the defined computing entity is defined by associating at least one interface with the defined entity type, where the at least one interface represents a reference entity type with a collection of behavior information. An operation is then executed on the defined computing entity according to the at least one behavior of the defined computing entity.

Method and system for using defined computing entities

An example method for assigning rights to utilize cloud resources associated with a service provider's computing hardware is provided. The example method can include defining a rights package including multiple rights pertaining to utilization of the cloud resources. The rights package can be assigned across multiple tenants of the service provider. The example method can also include defining a global role that includes potential rights, where the global role is assignable to individual tenant users of the tenant. The global roles can be made available to multiple tenants using the service provider. The method can further include provisioning filtered rights to utilize the cloud resources to a tenant user of the tenant, the tenant user being assigned the global role. The filtered rights can include rights present in both the potential rights defined for the global role and the rights defined for the rights package.

Flexible rights management for cloud-based access to computing resources

Exemplary methods, apparatuses, and systems perform a live migration of a virtual infrastructure from a first set of data stores to a second set of data stores using a placement engine configured to determine optimal locations for placement of components of the virtual infrastructure and an optimal order of migration for the components of the virtual infrastructure from the first set of data stores to the second set of data stores.
