A method of developing a product is provided that includes generating a digital system model (DSM) that describes the product and a manufacturing process for the product, and generating a digital twin (DTw) of an instance of a component of the manufacturing process, the DTw including a digital replica of the instance. The method includes receiving attribute data for attributes of process/process characteristics subject to sources of variation that affect product quality. The digital replica is executed with input of the attribute data, and thereby updating the DTw to replicate the instance of the component of the manufacturing process as performed. A data analysis of the manufacturing process is performed based on the DTw as updated, and the manufacturing process is modified based on the data analysis to reduce variability in one or more product characteristics. The DTws of multiple instances may be used to generate further improvement.

A pump includes a shaft that is rotatable about a central axis. An inducer is mounted on the shaft and has an inducer blade and inducer shroud attached at an outer end of the inducer blade. An impeller is mounted on the shaft downstream of the inducer and has an impeller blade and an impeller shroud attached at an outer end of the impeller blade. There is an axially-elongated annular seal element disposed at an axial end of the inducer shroud that provides sealing between the inducer shroud and the impeller shroud.

A turbopump includes an impeller () that is rotatable about an axis (A). A discharge collector () is located radially outward of the impeller. A passage () fluidly connects the impeller to the discharge collector. The passage is curved.

A device for damping of vibratory energy in the blades of rotor assemblies during operation where the blades have a shroud attached thereto with at least one sealing rail extending radially outward from the shroud to an outer diameter surface. A damper element is attached to the turbine blade sealing rail extending radially inward from the rail outer diameter surface along rail sides to maintain the damper element out of the flow of gas and positioned at a radial location on the blade for damping.

An efficient oil based drilling fluid is provided that includes a polymer additive effective at imparting suspension characteristics without the presence of organophilic clays, while also providing filtration control. The fluid is shear thinning and has good fluid rheology over a broad temperature range. A preferred polymer for the additive is substantially linear and comprises mostly hydrophobic monomers and some hydrophilic monomers such as, for example, an emulsion copolymer of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and acrylic acid.

Methods and apparatus for conveying fluids (e.g., liquids, gases, and mixtures thereof) are disclosed. A turbopump in accordance with an exemplary implementation of the present invention comprises an impeller defining at least one flow channel and a shroud defining an opening communicating with the at least one flow channel. In certain advantageous implementations, at least one inlet partial of the impeller extends into the opening defined by the shroud. The at least one inlet partial may advantageously be capable of supporting the opening in the shroud. In some cases, the impeller may include a plurality of these inlet partials.

An improved rotor assembly shroud includes at least one reinforcing flange on the upper surface of the shroud. The strength provided by the reinforcing flange allows for a smaller shroud thickness resulting in a net reduction of shroud mass. The lower shroud mass reduces the centrifugal stress on the rotor assembly blade during operation. The strength provided by the reinforcing flanges also significantly reduces the centrifugal bending stress on the shroud during operation. The shroud mass may be further reduced by tapering the shroud leading and trailing edges or, for shrouds incorporating a damper, by providing a damper cavity with a lower diameter surface defining an opening therethrough.

High speed rotor assembly shroud

A method and product is disclosed which provides emulsion stability and filtration control to invert emulsion drilling fluids. The product comprises a blend of a carboxylic acid terminated polyamide and/or a wetting agent with a reaction product or mixture produced by the Diels-Alder reaction of dienophiles, preferably carboxylic acids, polycarboxylic acids, acid anhydrides, or combinations or mixes thereof, with a mixture of fatty acids and resin acids. The product of the invention is extremely effective, decreasing by about two-thirds the amount of emulsifier generally required to formulate an effective drilling fluid. The product of the invention also greatly reduces and in many cases eliminates the need for conventional fluid loss additives, and additionally provides electrical stability. Moreover, the product of the invention has a pour point as low as about 20 degrees Fahrenheit with minimal solvents, thereby eliminating the need to ship large amounts of inert material for use, and may be transported in a highly active state.

An improved frictional damper for a rotor blade is positioned inside a cavity in the airfoil section of the blade. The cavity includes an elongated, generally radially-extending opening that divides the airfoil into two sections and an elongated opening transverse to and intersecting the radial opening. A damper placed within the cavity frictionally engages the resulting sections of the airfoil, thereby reducing the vibratory stresses on the blade as a whole.
