A method for providing over-heating protection of a target device within an information processing system is disclosed. A determination is made whether or not a power status of the information processing system is set to turn on a main power of a power supply device. If the power status of the information processing system is set to turn on a main power of a power supply device, a power switch of the target device is turned on; otherwise, another determining is made whether or not the target device is set to operate based on a user's setting. If the target device is set to operate based on the user's setting, the power switch of the target device is turned on; otherwise, the power switch of the target device is turned off.

Method for preventing over-heating of a device within a data processing system

A method for implementing an equalizer of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) baseband receiver is provided. The OFDM baseband receiver includes a channel estimation and tracking module for estimating a channel impulse response of an input signal of the equalizer. A conjugate of the channel impulse response is first calculated. The input signal and the conjugate of the channel impulse response are then multiplied to generate a product signal. The product signal is then taken as the output signal of the equalizer without dividing the product signal by a channel state information, wherein the channel state information represents a square of an absolute value of the channel impulse response.

Method for implementing an equalizer of an OFDM baseband receiver

An add-compare-select (ACS) unit generates first path metrics having a first bit-pair and a most significant bit-pair (MSB) each including a high bit and a low bit. A first ACS circuit produces the first bit-pair and a first carry. A limiting circuit generates the MSB based on the first carry, and limits the MSB to a first predetermined value. A MSB maximum select (MS) unit receives an MSB of second path metrics from another ACS unit, and compares the MSBs of the first and the second path metrics to determine MSB decision signals based on maximum likelihood selection. A MSB storage unit stores the MSB of the first path metrics. A reset unit resets the high bit of the MSB of the first path metrics to a second predetermined value when the high bits of the MSBs of the first and the second path metrics reach the first predetermined value.

A circuit and method for timing recovery. The circuit for timing recovery comprises an converter, a timing recovery controller, and a initial phase generator. The converter converts an input signal to sample data with a sampling signal. The timing recovery controller is coupled to the converter, and determines the sampling signal. And the initial phase generator is coupled to the AD converter, detects a change with the sample data only, produces an initial phase based on the change, and controls the sampling signal.

Method and circuit for timing recovery

The invention provides a method for controlling the signal gain of a MultiBand Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MB-OFDM) baseband receiver. The symbol boundary of a signal is first detected. Power of the signal is then measured according to the symbol boundary, so that a zero-padding section of the signal is not measured. A gain magnitude for amplifying the signal is then determined according to the power of the signal. The signal is then amplified according to the gain magnitude.

Method for controlling the signal gain of a multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) baseband receiver

The present invention discloses a method and apparatus of IQ imbalance compensation for a receiver. The repetitive attribute of the preamble in a signal received by the receiver is used to estimate the IQ imbalance parameters. The data carried by the preamble repeats itself every N sampling intervals. A MSE equation is derived based on assuming the ratios between any two sampling points separated by N samples are identical, and the IQ imbalance parameters can be estimated by solving the MSE equation using the LS algorithm. Consequently, the IQ mismatch offset of the signal is compensated according to the estimated parameters.

A method and an apparatus of compensating for a signal receiving error at a receiver in a packet-based communication system. In the invention, frequency offset estimation and DC offset estimation obtained in a current packet are re-used in a next packet if the receiver is an intended recipient of the current packet and the current packet is received correctly, verified by CRC-32 checking in the PHY layer and the DA checking in the MAC layer, respectively. Thereby, the overall receiver performance and stability can be improved from packet to packet and the estimation algorithm is simplified.

Method and apparatus of compensating for signal receiving error at receiver in packet-based communication system

A method for updating coefficients in a decision feedback equalizer (DFE). The DFE comprises an ISI canceler for canceling inter-symbol interference (ISI) from a plurality of first signals received from a channel. A first symbol comprising a set of the first signals is decoded to generate a decoded symbol. Then, a vector of error values computed as the difference between the decoded symbol, and the first symbol is obtained. According to the decoded symbol and the vector of the error values, a temp matrix is generated. Next, the values of the elements in every diagonal line of the temp matrix are averaged. Finally, the coefficients are updated by the Toeplitz Matrix.

Method for updating coefficients in decision feedback equalizer

A sequencing method and a bridging system for accessing a shared system resource capable of increasing transmission rate and reducing transmission error when a plurality of master controllers need to access the shared system resource.
