An improved blade assembly is provided for use in a cooking appliance such as a blender or a food processor. The bottom blade portions of the blade assembly include a geometry that provides an angled, sharpened portion on wing portions that extend downwardly from the bottom blade. The bottom blade's geometry, including the sharpened portions, help rotate the material so that it is blended upwardly to help prevent food from getting stuck in the void below the bottom blade, thus improving the blade's efficiency.

A blender is provided that uses a latch handle to lock the blade base onto the jar member without the use of threads. When the latch is locked onto the jar member, the latch itself is engaged to a tab member protruding from the jar member in order to prevent the latch from opening on accident.

Disclosed is a portable and self-contained washing and sanitizing apparatus. The apparatus finds particular application in washing small baby items such as bottles, nipples, teething rings or toys. The apparatus includes a container with a lid, the container housing the items to be washed; an accessory holder connected to the lid for holding infant accessories during washing operations; a water reservoir for storing and collecting wash water; and a housing for interconnecting the container and reservoir.
