A steam-based faux fireplace comprising a boiler configured to receive a fluid and generate steam, and a manifold configured to receive the steam from the boiler and emit the steam to generate a steam plume at an output. The manifold has a conduit configured to route the fluid about the manifold to heat the fluid before being routed to the boiler. The manifold is already heated due to the emitted steam. This configuration pre-heats the fluid before being presented to the boiler, allowing a smaller low power boiler to be used because the manifold acts as a fluid pre-heater. A very realistic faux flame with a significant length is generated from the low power boiler. In addition, the manifold includes a deflector configured to receive the impinging steam from the output, causing the steam to lose some energy and billow about the deflector and then illuminated to create a realistically looking flame.

A steam-based faux fireplace comprising a boiler configured to receive a fluid and generate steam, and a manifold configured to receive the steam from the boiler and emit the steam to generate a steam plume at an output. The manifold is already heated due to the emitted steam. The turbulently billowing steam is illuminated to create a realistically looking flame.

A water control system including a showerhead and a tub faucet. The faucet has a temperature controlled valve configured in a first mode to automatically restrict fluid flow through the faucet and direct fluid to the showerhead once the fluid flowing through the faucet reaches a predetermined temperature, referred to as a hot mode. The faucet also has a manual override member configured to manually restrict fluid flow through the faucet and to the showerhead to allow cold showers, referred to as a cold mode. The valve includes a piston, and a sleeve configured to establish the hot mode and the cold mode.

A computing module includes an interface to asynchronously, serially exchange parallel system bus data with one or more other modules of a computer system that includes the computing module. The computing module can asynchronously, serially transfer first parallel bus data to another module of the computer system, and can asynchronously, serially receive second parallel bus data from another module of the computer system.

A multifunctional restrictive valve for controlling the flow of water therethrough. The valve has a main body with a flow channel through the main body. The main body receives water upstream thereof through an inlet port and passes it out through an outlet port at the downstream end of the body. A flow control assembly is located in the flow channel and includes a temperature sensor/actuator acting on a piston to move, when the temperature sensor heats up the piston, to block water flow control ports. The flow control assembly also includes an override feature wherein the piston is located within a slide and the flow control ports are located in the slide. By moving the slide away from the piston when the piston is blocking the flow control ports, the temperature sensor and piston may be overridden and flow may resume through the main body.

Multifunctional restrictive valve

A modular computer system () including a universal connectivity station (UCS) () interconnected to a plurality of remote modules () via a plurality of respective high speed serial links () such as based on proprietary Split-Bridge&#x2122; technology. The plurality modules, including a processor module () which may include core parts including a CPU, memory, AGP Graphics, and system bus interface may be remotely located from each of the other modules, including the UCS (). The present invention achieves technical advantages wherein each module of the modular computer system () appear to each device to be interconnected to the other on a parallel bus since the high speed serial links appear transparent. Preferably, although not necessary, each of the modules including the UCSare based on the PCI bus architecture, or the PCMCIA bus architecture, although other bus architectures are well suited to be incorporated using the present invention. The processor module can be upgraded to change or improve the performance of the modular computer systemwithout requiring any changes to the remaining system, thus drastically improving the price to performance trade-offs of the system. Moreover, the operating system (OS) of each module, including both the software and hardware, do not need to be changed as the entire modular system () is based on a common architecture, such as the PCI or Cardbus bus architecture.

Modular computer system

An improved extended cardbus/PC card controller ( ) incorporating proprietary Split-Bridge&trade; high speed serial communication technology for interconnecting a conventional parallel system bus via a high speed serial link with a remote peripheral device. The extend cardbus/PC card controller is adapted to interface the parallel system bus, which may be PCI, PCMCIA, integrated, or some other parallel I/O bus architecture, with peripheral devices via PC cards, and now optionally via a high speed serial link using the proprietary serial Split-Bridge&trade; technology. The serial Split-Bridge&trade; technology provides real time interconnection between the parallel system bus and the remote device which may also be based on a parallel system data bus architecture, over a serial link, which serial link appears to be transparent between the buses and thus facilitates high speed data transfer exceeding data rates of 1.0 GigaHertz.
