A method of determining a touch coordinate in a touch panel includes detecting a touch cell among a plurality of touch cells, wherein the plurality of touch cells are defined by a plurality of areas in the touch panel in which a first touch electrode and a second touch electrode overlap with each other, detecting a touch position in the detected touch cell based on a first electrical signal measured at least one of a plurality of terminals of the first and second touch electrodes, determining a number of touches based on a distance between a first touch and a second touch, determining expected touch coordinates corresponding to the number of touches, and determining the touch coordinate based on a second electrical signal measured at least one of the plurality of terminals of the first and second touch electrodes and the expected touch coordinates.

Method of determining touch coordinate and touch panel assembly for performing the same

An object-sensing device is presented. The device includes a waveguide and a substrate holding a liquid crystal layer, wherein radiation propagates through the waveguide via total internal reflection. A radiation emitting element is positioned along a radiation input surface of the waveguide, and a radiation receiving element is positioned to receive radiation exiting the waveguide. The radiation receiving element may be positioned across the waveguide from the radiation emitting element. Alternatively, the radiation receiving element may be positioned on a surface that contacts the radiation input surface of the waveguide that is optically coupled to the radiation emitting element.

Object-sensing device

A liquid crystal display device has brightness uniformity at its front and lateral sides. The liquid crystal display device includes a reflection sheet reflecting light; an optical plate including a substrate for guiding light, a height-varying portion formed on one surface of the substrate, not facing the reflection sheet, and a prism pattern formed on the height-varying portion; and a plurality of light sources arranged on one lateral surface of the optical plate in a first direction so as to correspond to a position of the height-varying portion having a height not greater than an average height from the one surface of the substrate to the height-varying portion. The prism pattern extends in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The average height is in a range of about 0.1% to about 10% of the thickness of the substrate.

Liquid crystal display device having uniform brightness

The display panel includes an opposite substrate and an array substrate. The opposite substrate includes a first substrate including a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface, a first wire electrode formed on the first surface, a first transparent electrode formed on the first surface and partially overlapping with the first wire electrode, and a common electrode formed on the second surface. The first wire on the first surface is formed before the first transparent electrode on the first surface. The array substrate includes a second substrate including a third surface facing the second surface, and a pixel layer formed on the third surface and facing the common electrode.

Display panel and method of manufacturing the same

Provided is a wide angle diffuser including a plate-shaped body, a plurality of microlenses, and a plurality of prisms. The plate-shaped body has an incident surface on which light is incident and an exit surface through which light is emitted form the plate-shaped body. The microlenses and the prisms are respectively disposed on one of the incident surface and the exit surface. Also provided is a liquid crystal display including a liquid crystal panel, a backlight unit, provided on a rear surface of the liquid crystal panel, which emits collimated light to the liquid crystal panel, and the wide angle diffuser diffusing light passing through the liquid crystal panel.

Wide angle diffuser having a plurality of microlenses and a plurality of prisms having a truncated pyramid shape and LCD employing the same

A liquid crystal display with an improved viewing angle and brightness is provided. The liquid crystal display includes a light source unit and a polarized light guide plate having an incident surface onto which unpolarized light from the light source unit is incident. The polarized light guide plate polarizes, collimates, and out-couples the incident light. The liquid crystal display also includes a liquid crystal panel which modulates the light out-coupled and illuminated from the polarized light guide plate to form images, and a diffusion layer which diffuses the light modulated in the liquid crystal panel.
