An apparatus for operating a vehicle, including a control device that is configured to guide the vehicle automatically; and a monitoring device that is configured to monitor the control device for a fault during automatic guidance of the vehicle by the control device, and upon recognition of a fault to take over automated guidance of the vehicle from the control device. Predictive control of a motor vehicle

A driver assistance system and a method for storing additional information for a road map for a driver assistance system are provided, the supplementary information concerning location- and/or time-specific compliance with traffic rules being stored. The supplementary information is taken into account by the driver assistance system.
