A process for the preparation of trifluoromethylvinyl compounds in all their possible steroisomeric forms and mixtures thereof comprising reacting a salt of trifluoroacetic acid with a halovinyl compound in the presence of a cuprous salt to obtain the same stero-specific compound and all possible stero-isomeric forms and mixtures thereof of 1R, trans compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is an alcohol residue used in pyrethrinoid series, or an alcohol residue capable of blocking the acid function, and Z is aryl or haloaryl and the double bond has Z geometry having pesticide activity.

A compound selected from the group consisting of all possible isomeric forms and mixtures thereof of a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, alkenyl and alkynyl of 2 to 8 carbon atoms and cycloalkyl and cycloalkylalkyl of 3 to 8 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, alkenyl and alkynyl of 2 to 8 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 3 to 8 carbon atoms and acyl of 1 to 9 carbon atoms, X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 are individually selected from the group consisting of fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, --CF.sub.3, --CN, --COOR and ##STR2## R is alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, Hal is chlorine, bromine or fluorine and R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and residue of an alcohol used in pyrethrinoid synthesis having excellent pesticidal properties.

A novel process for the preparation of compounds in all their possible isomeric forms of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 18 carbon atoms, an easily cleavable derivative of the alcohol R-OH and a residue of an alcohol used in the pyrethrinoid series and when Y is --COOR' or --COSR', W is hydrogen and W is halogen when Y is --COOR' and R' is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, optionally unsaturated alkyl of 1 to 18 carbon atoms and optionally substituted with at least one functional group, aryl optionally substituted with at least one functional group and heterocycle optionally substituted with at least one functional group and when W is hydrogen, the double bond has Z configuration and when W is halogen, the double bond has the E configuration comprising reacting a compound of the formula ##STR2## wherein R has the above definition with a compound of the formula ##STR3## wherein W and Y have the above definitions and A is alkylene of 1 to 18 carbon atoms attached to the two oxygen atoms fixed on the phosphorus atom to obtain a compound of formula I with the double bond having the Z configuration when W is hydrogen and having the E configuration when W is halogen, the cyclopropane and the carboxyl of Y being in both cases in the cis position with respect to the double bond and novel intermediates.

Process for the preparation of 1.R, cis cyclopropane di-carboxylic acid

All stereoisomeric forms and mixtures thereof of a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is --O-- or --S--, Y is --C.dbd.O, ##STR2## or --CH.sub.2 --, R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, optionally unsaturated alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally unsaturated cycloalkyl of 3 to 8 carbon atoms, the latter two being optionally substituted with one or more halogen and aryl of 6 to 14 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, --CF.sub.3, --NO.sub.2, --CN, halogen, alkoxy of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, aryl of 6 to 14 carbon atoms, an ester, optionally unsaturated alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally unsaturated cycloalkyl of 3 to 8 carbon atoms, the latter two being optionally substituted with one or more halogen, R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, --CN and --C.tbd.CH and A is the residue of an ACOOH pyrethrinoid acid having pesticidal properties.

Novel cyclopropane carboxylic acid esters of all possible stereoisomeric forms and mixtures thereof of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine and bromine, R is selected from the group consisting of optionally unsaturated alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms optionally substituted, optionally unsaturated cycloalkyl of 3 to 8 carbon atoms optionally substituted, optionally substituted aryl of 6 to 14 carbon atoms and optionally substituted heterocycle, Z is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, --CH.sub.3, --CN and --C.tbd.CH and Y is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, --OH, optionally unsaturated alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms optionally substituted, --CN, --(CH.sub.2).sub.m --OAlk, --(CH.sub.2).sub.m --S--Alk, ##STR2## m is 0,1,2,3 or 4, Alk is alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms, --Si(Alk').sub.3, Alk' is optionally unsaturated alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms optionally substituted, --O--Ar and --(CH.sub.2).sub.m --Ar and Ar is aryl of 6 to 14 carbon atoms having excellent pesticidal activities and novel intermediates.
