The material according to the invention is an acrylic copolymer, which is crosslinked, viscoelastic, flexible and deformable at room temperature and hydrophobic, of at least 50 wt % of acrylic or methacrylic monomers and cinnamic alcohol. The mixture of monomers preferably includes: &#x2014;at least one arylalkoxy-acrylate or one arylalkoxy-methacrylate; at least one hydroxylated acrylate and one hydroxylated methacrylate; at least one ethoxylated diol diacrylate and one ethoxylated diol dimethacrylate; and cinnamic alcohol. Said material is obtained in a single step of radical polymerization and is presented in the form of a three-dimensional macromolecular network including a cinnamic alcohol unit. Said material is used for manufacturing intraocular lenses ().

The material according to the invention is a hydrophobic, cross-linked, acrylic copolymer of at least the following monomers: It is obtained in one single step of radical polymerization, in the presence of a transfer agent during the cross-linking. It thus has a physical structure corresponding to a three-dimensional macromolecular network with hanging chains. This material is used for manufacturing intraocular lenses () with low glistening that are not self-adhering.

The material of the invention is obtained by radical polymerization from a mixture of acrylic and/or methacrylic monomers. The mixture further contains at least one transfer agent, preferably from the thiol family, that substantially enhances the flexibility of the polymer material thus obtained, and reduces the tackiness thereof. The polymer material thus obtained is intended for making ophthalmologic implants, and more particularly, intraocular lenses.

The invention concerns a porous material, a method for making same and its applications. Said porous material comprises a mixture of cellulose fibres and at least an elastomer and is characterised in that it has a honeycomb structure having cells with a size ranging between 0.1 and 10 mm, a density of the order of 0.03 to 0.1, water absorbing capacity not less than 750%, and water holding capacity after manual wringing less than 100%. The invention is applicable for making in particular sponges and household goods comprising a spongy element such as brushes and squeegees for cleaning surfaces.
