A method, device, and system maintain a database of electronic and/or hardcopy publications within a first computerized device. The first computerized device receives from a second computerized device a request for at least one of the printable images within an electronic and/or hardcopy publication. The request has an identifier of the electronic and/or hardcopy publication and at least one page number of the electronic and/or hardcopy publication. The first computerized device transmits display information to cause the second computerized device to display one or more of the printable images appearing on the page number of the electronic and/or hardcopy publication. The first computerized device receives an image selection from the second computerized device that identifies selected images from among the printable images displayed by the second computerized device. The first computerized device provides the selected images to the second computerized device, or to a printer or print shop.

Providing access to images from electronic and/or hardcopy publications

A method, a system and a computer program product for handling requests in a network are disclosed. A load pattern at a first service component is extracted. A capacity and pending requests at the first service component are calculated based on the load pattern. Thereafter, an insertion delay is calculated based on the capacity, pending requests, and a time period required to increase the capacity by applying various alternative adaptation techniques. The insertion delay is then distributed among a plurality of upstream service components.

A method of generating a structural document may include causing, by a cloud system, a graphical representation of a structural document associated with a structural document kit to be displayed on a user computing device. The cloud system may be located remotely from the user computing device. The method may include receiving a selection of a content item, determining a position of the selected content item on a portion of the graphical representation, and transmitting the selected content item to the user computing device. The user computing device may be configured to transmit the selected content item to a print device. The print device may be configured to print the selected content item on a label of the structural document kit. The label may be configured to be affixed to a portion of the structural document that corresponds to the portion of the graphical representation.

Methods and systems for creating structural documents

A method of generating a structural document may include causing, by a cloud system, a graphical representation of a structural document associated with a structural document kit to be displayed on a user computing device. The cloud system may be located remotely from the user computing device. The graphical representation may include a background content item and a customizable area. The method may include receiving a selection of a content item, determining a position of the selected content item within the customizable area, and transmitting the selected content item to the user computing device. The user computing device may be configured to transmit the selected content item to a print device. The print device may be configured to print the selected content item on a label of the structural document kit. The label may be configured to be affixed to the structural document.

Methods and systems for creating structural documents having background content

A method is provided for enabling adaptive print job content processing as a function of the electronic format and content of files, received by a digital print production environment providing access to a display in the form of a user interface able to select job content processing options. The method includes receiving a print job in one or more electronic format files, with the print job including supplementary information for one or more electronic format files. Depending on the electronic format of the files, job programming options are structured, with options including parameter(s), parameter value(s), and parameter selectability. Programming options are presented on the user interface for review and possible modification by an operator. A determination is made as to whether any operator modifications have been indicated. If operator modifications have been indicated, the parameter value(s) affected are adjusted.

Electronic format file content sensitive user interface

A system supports page exception programming in a document reproduction system without requiring cursor control to identify each page subject to exception processing. The exception page selector receives input that uses a naming convention to identify pages within a document for exception programming. The naming convention may include an odd/even designation, an imposition template identifier and/or page numerals. An exception programmer enables an operator to correlate different device color profiles for pages identified by the exception page selector. Exception parameters that may also be correlated to pages identified by the exception page selector include anti-aliasing, trapping, black overprinting parameters, and other known printing parameters.

Method and system for multi-page exception programming in a document management system

A system and method for printer control and color balance calibration. The system and method address the image quality problems of print engine instability, low quality of color balance and contouring from the calibration. The method includes defining combinations of colorants, such as inks or toners that will be used to print images, defining a desired response for the combinations that are to be used and, in real time, iteratively printing CMY halftone color patches, measuring the printed patches via an in situ sensor and iteratively performing color-balance calibration based on the measurements, accumulating corrections until the measurements are within a predetermined proximity of the desired response. The calibration is performed on the halftones while they are in a high quantization resolution form.

The invention provides a method for processing a document to be rendered in which rendering intent selection is based on input color space. In one aspect, the method includes the following steps: a) identifying an object type for an object in the document; b) identifying an input color space of the document; c) selecting a rendering intent for the document based on the object type and the input color space; and d) processing the document using the selected rendering intent. In another aspect, the method includes the following steps: a) identifying an object type for each object in the document; b) identifying an input color space of the document; c) selecting a rendering intent for each object in the document based on the object type and the input color space; and d) processing the document using the selected rendering intent(s).
