A method for monitoring an electric power source changeover switch, including a step of identifying all of the combinations of operating modes and availability states of the power sources, a step of associating a configuration of a state of switches with each combination, a step of watching for a change in configuration. Upon a change in configuration, a step of controlling the switches is executed in order to place the switches in a state complying with the configuration. In the absence of a change in configuration, a step monitors the compliance of the configuration with the actual state of the switches. A method for evaluating mechanical performance of a switchgear device having at least one pole which includes a pair of contacts movable between open and closed positions, a support arm of a first contact, a support arm drive including a rotary pole shaft and a rod pivotably coupling the drive to the support, an energy storage system for moving the arm to close the contacts, and a toggle device with a trip latch, the method including measuring the angle of rotation of the pole shaft during contact closing, deriving specific values by measuring the angle of rotation, comparing the values with an initial reference value, identifying wear performances of the drive by comparing the specific values with the reference value, determining first and second specific values on a variation curve of the angle of rotation, calculating the angular difference between maximum and final angles of rotation; and identifying a latching state of the toggle device as a function of the angular difference.

In order to take maximum advantage of the modularity provided by a multipole circuit breaker with double enclosure (), a new architecture is proposed. The outer case () of the switchgear apparatus () is formed directly when assembly of the breaking device () is performed by juxtaposition and securing between single-pole breaking units (), spacers () and side walls (), trip device () and cover (). The spacers () can thus be used for various functionalities, and in particular to modify the external aspect of the switchgear apparatus () or the nature of the trip device () in delayed manner.

The device compares a voltage representative of the supply voltage of the electromagnet with two distinct inrush thresholds and a drop-out threshold. As soon as this voltage reaches one of the inrush thresholds, the device commands switching to an inrush phase of preset duration. The first inrush threshold is representative of a voltage of about 40 to 50% of the rated supply voltage of the electromagnet, whereas the second inrush threshold is representative of 70 to 85% of this voltage. The same control device can thus be used with both an under-voltage release and a shunt release or for a circuit breaker closing electromagnet.

The device comprises two power supply terminals, a local control terminal and remote control and presence detection terminals. It can operate in fully autonomous manner, the power supply terminals being connected to a voltage supply source by means of a local control switch, closing of which causes excitation of a coil of the electro-magnet. It can also operate in conjunction with a communication module. In this case, the terminals are permanently supplied by the source, the local control terminal is connected to one of the power supply terminals by a local control switch and the remote control and presence detection terminals are connected to the module. The device automatically detects the presence of the module and causes excitation of the coil if the supply voltage is sufficient and if a control signal is applied to it either by the local control switch or by the module.

An electrical switchgear apparatus comprises a fixed frame, a circuit breaker movable in the fixed frame between a plugged-out position and a plugged-in position, a reversible plug-in and plug-out mechanism of the circuit breaker, a movable means for detecting an indexed position of the mechanism or of the circuit breaker, linked to a first electrical switch, and a movable means for detecting an indexed position (open or closed) of the main contact means of the circuit breaker linked to a second electrical switch. Each of the two switches comprises an input, a first output and a switching means able to take a first position in which it connects the input of the switch electrically to the first output of the switch, the switching means being kinematically linked to the corresponding detecting means, in such a way that the switching means is in its first position if and only if the corresponding detecting means is in its active position. The output of one of the switches is connected to the input of the other switch. A state indicating device is thus achieved with an input terminal, a first output terminal and means designed to electrically connect the input terminal and the first output terminal if and only if the main contact means and the switchgear apparatus are simultaneously in their indexed position.

The trip bar is sub-divided into a first actuating part associated to the trip rod of the actuator and a second actuating part operating in conjunction with the indicating device. A mechanical coupling link is arranged between the two actuating parts being adjustable between a coupled position and a disengaged position. An operating lever performs locking of the second actuating part in the active position to keep the fault information on the indicating device, whereas the first actuating part returns automatically to the inactive position when said mechanical link is in the disengaged position.

An auxiliary trip device for a circuit breaker which includes an electromechanical actuating device and an energy storage system. The electromechanical actuating device includes a coil housed in a sheath which has a central bore containing a plunger fixed to a push-rod, and a fixed core spaced apart from the plunger, via a first spring. The push-rod is slidable within the bore to actuate a latch device of the energy storage system, which in turn releases a blade which is cooperable with a trip bar of the circuit breaker on which the auxiliary trip device is placed. The blade is biased by a second spring which releases and stores energy greater than released and stored energy of the first spring.

A molded case circuit breaker includes standard compartments each designed to accommodate a standard auxiliary indication or control unit. Each compartment is assigned to a predetermined function, the control device associated with this compartment being connected to the corresponding components of the circuit breaker supplying the information relating to this function. Customization of the circuit breaker can be performed by the distributor or fitter who fits a standard auxiliary unit in the compartment or compartments.

The molded case has two opposite parallel side walls having the same thickness, the single-pole breaking units being sequentially arranged and parallel to each other and parallel to the side walls such that adjacent single-pole breaking units are spaced apart a distance equal to twice the thickness of the side walls, the single-pole breaking units being spaced apart at a constant pitch. An operating mechanism is provided to be common to all single-pole breaking units for simultaneously operating all single-pole breaking units.
