An adhesive composition, includes at least one vegetable starch the amylose content of which is between 30 and 60%. The invention further relates to the method for using the composition, including application thereof to lignocellulose materials, the forming of a panel and the hot pressing thereof. The emissions of formaldehyde vapor during the method are as low as possible. The invention further relates to the panels produced as above and in particular the panels emitting reduced amounts of formaldehyde into the atmosphere.

The subject matter of the invention is a new additive for mineral binders comprising a composition containing at least one product of internal dehydration of a hydrogenated sugar which can especially be a dehydrated hexitol such as isosorbide, isomannide, sorbitan or mannitan and which can be introduced at a rate of between roughly 0.001 and 5% (dry/dry) within any mineral binder, said additive being advantageously used as an accelerator for setting and/or hardening and/or as an agent for improving the mechanical properties of the mineral binder. A novel admixture for mineral binders is composed of a polyol composition with a high hydrogenated disaccharide content (&gE;40%). The hydrogenated disaccharide is advantageously chosen from maltitol, lactitol and mixtures thereof. Within the admixture, the polyol composition (for example, maltitol powder, a maltitol syrup or a hydrogenated starch hydrolysate) may be combined with conventional admixtures for mineral binders, particularly lignosulfonates. The hydrogenated disaccharides make it possible to obtain an excellent compromise between retardation, plasticity and the mechanical properties of the mineral binder. They may be used equally well for admixing with cements and raw materials for cements as for admixing with mortars, slurries and concretes.
