Technologies for low-latency data streaming include a computing device having a processor that includes a producer and a consumer. The producer generates a data item, and in a local buffer producer mode adds the data item to a local buffer, and in a remote buffer producer mode adds the data item to a remote buffer. When the local buffer is full, the producer switches to the remote buffer producer mode, and when the remote buffer is below a predetermined low threshold, the producer switches to the local buffer producer mode. The consumer reads the data item from the local buffer while operating in a local buffer consumer mode and reads the data item from the remote buffer while operating in a remote buffer consumer mode. When the local buffer is above a predetermined high threshold, the consumer may switch to a catch-up operating mode. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

A multimedia telephony services over internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystems (IMS) (MTSI) receiver operable to support region of interest (ROI) signaling with a MTSI sender is disclosed. The MTSI receiver can define a requested region of interest (ROI). The MTSI receiver can map the requested ROI to one or more pan, tilt, zoom and focus (PTZF) commands. The MTSI receiver can encode the one or more PTZF commands for transmission to the MTSI sender via real-time transport protocol (RTP) packets, wherein the one or more PTZF commands represent the requested ROI.

A system and related methods for determining an actual head angle of a mobile device user from an actual orientation of the mobile device and a relative orientation of the user's head to the mobile device. The actual orientation of the mobile device may be used as a landmark such that the relative orientation of the user's head to the mobile device may be used to approximate the actual head angle of the mobile device user. The determined actual head angle may be compared to a predetermined head angle corresponding to correct posture. If the actual head angle deviates from the predetermined head angle, a stimulus may be provided from the mobile device to encourage the user to rotate their head and/or reposition the mobile device such that their actual head angle aligns with the predetermined head angle.

Technology for a local user equipment (UE) operable to perform video conferencing with a remote UE is disclosed. The local UE can define a region of interest (ROI) within a field of view of a camera of the remote UE. The local UE can map the ROI to one or more pan, tilt, zoom and focus (PTZF) commands. The local UE can send the one or more PTZF commands to the remote UE, wherein the remote UE is configured to identify the ROI based on the one or more PTZF commands. The local UE can receive encoded video within the ROI from the remote UE. The encoded video can include the regions within the ROI at an increased zoom level while substantially maintaining a defined quality level to enable the encoded video within the ROI to be rendered and displayed at the local UE.

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to perform block-based static region detection for video processing are disclosed. Disclosed example video processing methods include segmenting pixels in a first frame of a video sequence into a first plurality of pixel blocks. Such example methods can also include processing the first plurality of pixel blocks and a second plurality of pixel blocks corresponding to a prior second frame of the video sequence to create, based on a first criterion, a map identifying one or more static pixel blocks in the first plurality of pixel blocks. Such example methods can further include identifying, based on the map, a static region in the first frame of the video sequence.

For example, an apparatus may include a packet selector to select at a first device a plurality of goodput packets from a plurality of received packets from a second device, the packet selector to select the plurality of goodput packets based on at least one selection parameter corresponding to the plurality of received packets; a band calculator to calculate a bit-rate band based on a dispersion of a goodput parameter corresponding to the plurality of goodput packets; and a feedback module to provide a bit-rate adaptation feedback to the second device based on the bit-rate band.
