An apparatus for lighting or indicating purposes in a motor vehicle includes a light guide associated with at least one light source for transporting light rays emitted by the light source from an input face to an output face via and intermediate section of the light guide. The output face of the light guide is contained between two closed lines which define a continuous internal contour and a continuous external contour, and the input face is contained between two further closed lines, also delimiting continuous internal and external contours.

Lighting of indicating apparatus for a motor vehicle

A motor vehicle indicator light has an elongate light source, highly inclined with respect to a required beam spread direction and a reflector in which the source is mounted. The reflector includes a mirror able to create, from part of the source situated opposite it, a primary virtual light source parallel to the required direction of spread and means for concentrating the light radiation coming from the said primary virtual source in the vicinity of a plane containing the required beam spread direction.

Double reflection indicator light

A motor vehicle headlamp has a discharge lamp, a reflector and a smooth or nearly smooth cover lens, the reflector being adapted to generate a beam below a cut-off line. At least two masks are associated with the discharge lamp, and define two shadow zones on the reflector; the reflector includes at least two reflective zones for forming portions of the beam below the cut-off line, with different amounts of sideways spreading of the light; and these zones of the reflector are separated by generally radial transition planes, at least some of which extend into the shadow zones. A particular application is to enable wide cruising beams to be produced to European standards without any optical anomalies.
