Described here are methods, devices, and systems for characterizing a physiological signal, and more specifically an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. Generally, the method includes receiving an ECG signal generated by an ECG device coupled to a patient. The ECG signal may comprise a plurality of cardiac beat intervals. A set of evaluable replicates may be identified using a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for each cardiac beat, a repolarization signal, and an isoelectric line. Interval measurements may be determined from the set of evaluable multi-beat sequences. An ECG signal characteristic may be determined from the interval measurements.

Methods and systems for the delivery of accurate and precise measurements from the body-surface electrocardiogram

Described here are methods, devices and systems for characterizing a physiological signal such as an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. Generally, the method includes receiving the ECG signal generated by an ECG device coupled to a patient. ECG signal quality for a plurality of consecutive beats may be determined based on a dispersion coefficient and a deviation from an average of each of a plurality of ECG parameters. Indexing information may be generated for set of sequences from the plurality of consecutive cardiac beats. Each of the sequences may comprise a first predetermined number of consecutive cardiac beats. The set of the sequences may be ordered based upon the ECG signal quality.

Methods and systems for characterizing the quality of an electrocardiogram signal

An ECG clock electrocardiogram based diagnostic device and method is disclosed. The ECG clock provides a clear visual indicator of heart related anomalies such as Long QT syndrome over a longer span of time than can otherwise be assimilated by a medical practitioner. A variable such as QT interval is represented by a variable length radial hand similar to a watch or clock hand. The circular face of the ECG clock represents the diagnostic time interval, typically 24 hours. The resulting output or plot of the ECG clock portrays a circular or polar mapping of the heart related variable such as QT interval over the diagnostic time interval, facilitating rapid diagnosis of volumes of electrocardiogram data by a medical practitioner that has heretofore not been possible.

What is disclosed is a system and method for determining whether a subject is in atrial fibrillation. A video is received of a region of exposed skin of a subject. The video is acquired of a region where a videoplethysmographic (VPG) signal can be registered by at least one imaging channel of a video imaging device. For each batch of image frames, pixels associated with the region of exposed skin are isolated and processed to obtain a time-series signal. A VPG signal is extracted from the time-series signal. The power spectral density (PSD) is computed across all frequencies within the VPG signal. A pulse harmonic strength (PHS) is calculated for this VPG signal. The pulse harmonic strength is compared to a discrimination threshold, defined herein. A determination is made whether the subject in the video is in atrial fibrillation or in normal sinus rhythm.

A method for assessing repolarization abnormalities is disclosed. At least two repolarization signals are identified from a set of ECG signals. PCA analysis is performed on the at least two repolarization signals to extract at least eigenvectors evand ev. A maximum vector MV is determined based on a transformed ECG signal in a plane defined by evand ev. A repolarization duration is determined which is based on the maximum vector MV. A system for assessing repolarization abnormalities is also disclosed. The system has a processor configured to determine a repolarization duration which is based on a maximum vector MV from transformed ECG repolarization signals in a plane defined by eigenvectors evand evwhich result from PCA analysis on the ECG repolarization signals. The system also has a data input coupled to the processor and a user interface coupled to either the processor or the data input.

Method and system for assessing repolarization abnormalities

A method differentiating LQT1 mutation from LQT2 mutation is disclosed. An ECG signal is obtained for a patient. At least a first ECG parameter and a second ECG parameter are determined from the ECG signal. A probability that the patient is an LQT1 carrier or an LQT2 carrier is determined based on a regression model which takes into account the first ECG parameter and the second ECG parameter. A system for assessing repolarization abnormalities is also disclosed. The system has a processor configured to differentiate between LQT1 and LQT2 based on at least two ECG parameters from ECG data. The system also has a data input coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with the ECG data. The system further has a user interface coupled to either the processor or the data input.

A method for analyzing an ECG signal includes obtaining a measurement of an area based repolarization interval from at least one beat in the electrocardiogram signal and detecting an altered ventricular repolarization based on the obtained measured area based repolarization interval.
