Method for the prophylactic treatment of the development of parasites in a food product with a powder comprising more than 40% by weight of an alkali metal bicarbonate, wherein the powder is in the form of particles having a medium particle size of at most 300 μm, and said treatment comprising mixing the powder with the food product, characterized in that at most 1000 ppm by weight of the powder is mixed with the food product.

Method for the prophylactic treatment of a food product

A chemical blowing agent for foaming a thermoplastic polymer, for example PVC plastisol or a polymer resin in an extrusion process, said chemical blowing agent comprising a functionalized particulate bicarbonate containing at least one additive, preferably excluding an exothermic blowing agent. The additive may be selected from the group consisting of rosin acids, any derivative thereof, and salts thereof; or any combinations thereof, such as comprising abietic acid, dihydroabietic acid, neoabietic acid, a rosin acid ester, or mixtures thereof. The particulate bicarbonate may be preferably functionalized by spray-coating, extrusion or co-grinding with at least one additive. The functionalized particulate bicarbonate may comprise 50 wt % to less than 100 wt % of the bicarbonate component, and 0.02-50 wt % of the additive. The functionalized particulate bicarbonate may further comprise 0.1-5 wt % silica. A foamable polymer composition comprising such chemical blowing agent. A process for manufacturing a foamed polymer, such as foamed PVC, comprising shaping and heating the foamable polymer composition, and a foamed polymer obtained by such process.

A chemical blowing agent for foaming a thermoplastic polymer, for example PVC plastisol or a polymer resin in an extrusion process, comprising a functionalized particulate bicarbonate containing at least one additive, preferably excluding an exothermic blowing agent. The additive may be selected from the group consisting of polymers; inorganic salts; oils; fats; resin acids, any derivative thereof, and salts thereof; amino acids; fatty acids; carboxylic or polycarboxylic acids, soaps; waxes; derivatives thereof; salts thereof; or any combinations thereof. The particulate bicarbonate may be functionalized by spray-drying, coating, extrusion or co-grinding with at least one additive. The functionalized particulate bicarbonate may comprise 50 wt % to less than 100 wt % of the bicarbonate component, and 0.02-50 wt % of the additive. A method for the prophylactic treatment of the development of parasites in a food product storage silo, the food product storage generating the deposit of food product scraps and/or dust on the walls of the silo, said prophylactic treatment method comprising the application, to at least one part of the walls, of a layer comprising at least 10 g of mineral per mof wall, the mineral being chosen from: an alkali metal bicarbonate, an alkaline-earth metal carbonate, an alkali metal sulphate, an alkaline-earth metal sulphate, an alkaline-earth metal oxide, and mixtures thereof; the mineral being in the form of particles having an average diameter of at most 200 &#x3bc;m; and said method being characterized in that the application of the layer is carried out after emptying of the silo, on food product scraps and/or dust deposited on the walls of the silo.

A method for manufacturing a parasiticidal composition comprising at least 40% of alkali metal bicarbonate and at least 1% of silica, wherein: at least 35% of the alkali metal bicarbonate of the composition is milled in the presence of silica in order to form a mixture of particles, and if necessary, the remainder of the alkali metal bicarbonate is added to the mixture of particles to form the parasiticidal composition, and wherein said parasiticidal composition has a particle size distribution such that at least 50% by weight of the particles have a diameter of less than 100 &#x3bc;m. A parasiticidal composition obtained by the present method and the use of the parasiticidal composition obtained by the present method in the form of a powder, a suspension or a gel.

Fire-retardant powder comprising at least 30% by weight of Lewis acid, at least 5% by weight of alkaline bicarbonate, and at least 3% by weight of silica, and method of manufacturing such fire-retardant powder. A building material preferably comprising natural fibers and comprising at least 5% by weight and at most 30% of such powder.

Fungicidal and parasiticidal fire-retardant powder

Fire-retardant powder comprising at least 30% by weight of mono ammonium dihydrogen phosphate and/or di-ammonium monohydrogen phosphate, at least 5% by weight of alkaline bicarbonate, at least 3% by weight of silica, and at least 5% by weight of a compound selected from the group consisting of: sodium chloride, potassium chloride, potassium bromide, potassium sulfate, magnesium carbonate hydroxide pentahydrate, magnesium chloride hexahydrate, iron(II) sulfate heptahydrate, zinc (II) chloride, and combinations thereof. The invention also relates to building materials preferably comprising natural fibers and comprising at least 5% by weight, and at most 30% of a powder according to the invention.

Use of a powder comprising more than 40% by weight of sodium bicarbonate, for its acaricidal effects in the storage of cereals.
