Various example embodiments are disclosed relating to wireless networks and relating to context transfers and multi-band operation in wireless networks. In an example embodiment, a multi-band scheduler may be provided for use in a wireless node. The multi-band scheduler may be configured to: receive one or more data units of a flow; assign each received data unit of the flow to a first frequency band of a plurality of frequency bands; determine a band transfer condition for the flow; and perform a context transfer from the first frequency band to a second frequency band for the flow based on the determined band transfer condition.

Context transfers and multi-band operation for wireless networks

Operators of wireless communication systems operating in the same geographic area are able to build networks on neighboring/adjacent bands, even if one of the systems is using a TDD mode and the other systems is using a FDD mode without using excessive large guard bands. A beaconing mechanism with signaling is used to impose an exclusion zone and power restriction, antenna direction, and other operational parameters. A newcomer operator is able to get an accurate knowledge of the interference to and from the sites of the AP of the existing operator so that the newcomer can deploy his APs without causing interference to the existing APs.

Method and apparatus for reducing the guard band between wireless communication systems operating in the same geographical area

Various example embodiments are disclosed relating wireless networks and relating to context transfers and multi-band operation in wireless networks. In an example embodiment, a multi-band scheduler may be provided for use in a wireless node. The multi-band scheduler may be configured to: receive one or more data units of a flow; assign each received data unit of the flow to a first frequency band of a plurality of frequency bands; determine a band transfer condition for the flow; and perform a context transfer from the first frequency band to a second frequency band for the flow based on the determined band transfer condition.

Disclosed herein is a method comprising using a first frequency for communication in a first direction with an infrastructure node and a second frequency for communication in a second direction with the infrastructure node during a normal operation phase in a wireless network. The method may further comprise reversing the frequencies used for the communication in the first and second directions with the infrastructure node during a link reversal phase.

Apparatus and method for channel reciprocity in a wireless network

A radio link service profile is defined as a set of parameters for upper layer transport of an IP packet, and may be associated with a logical channel flow identifier. A data packet is sent over a wireless logical channel that is identified by the LCID between a base station and a user equipment. The association of RLSP, whether created or invoked form a memory, is coordinated among the BS and the UE without the need to involve the radio network controller, and if the RLSP does not have a diffserv field on the uplink, the BS adds it prior to forwarding the data packet. A method, device (both BS and UE), computer program product, and system are described in multiple embodiments.

Apparatus, method and computer program product to configure a radio link protocol for internet protocol flow

The guard band between two carriers of the same or different operators is reduced or dynamically adjusted by initiating a dynamic change request of the guard band between the two carriers to allow for flexible spectrum use by adjusting the tolerable guard band overlap. The data is distributed or positioned in the carrier spectrum band as a function of the Quality of Service so that the lowest Quality of Service constrained data are positioned at the edges of the carrier spectrum band and the highest Quality of Service constrained data are positioned in the middle of the carrier spectrum band to minimize any impact from the increased adjacent channel interference due to the guard band overlap and narrower guard band.
