A process for washing a substrate. The process involves providing a detergent composition that includes a surfactant and an antifoam. The antifoam comprises a hydrophobic fluid having a surface tension of at least 27 mN/m and less than 40 mN/m and a finely divided solid hydrophobic filler dispersed in the hydrophobic fluid. The process further involves washing the substrate in an aqueous medium with the detergent composition. The antifoam does not affect foaming during the washing step. During the washing step, the detergent composition is applied to the substrate. The process further involves rinsing the substrate with the applied detergent composition with water, whereby foaming during the rinsing step is inhibited.

A particulate wetting and hydrophobing additive comprising components a) and b), where: component a) is a disiloxane having structure (I) Where Ris selected from a branched or linear hydrocarbon group of 2 to 10 carbons, a substituted branched or substituted linear hydrocarbon group of 2 to 10 carbons, an aryl group, a substituted aryl group and an optionally substituted alkyl hydrocarbon group of 4 to 9 carbons containing aryl substituents of 6 to 20 carbons; R, R, Rand Rare each independently selected from the monovalent hydrocarbon groups of 1 to 4 carbons, substituted monovalent hydrocarbon groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, aryl, and a hydrocarbon group of 6 to 20 carbons containing an aryl group; Z is a linear or branched divalent hydrocarbon radical of 1 to 10 carbon atoms and Ris selected from OH, H, monovalent hydrocarbon groups of 1 to 6 carbons and acetyl, each of the subscripts a, b and c are zero or positive provided that a+b+c&#x2267;1; and component b) is a carrier. 

Fast wetting agent for dry-mix applications

A hydrolysis resistant aqueous emulsion includes a hydrolyzable silicon containing compound. This emulsion is formed by a method that includes the step of (A) forming a seed emulsion that includes (1) an emulsifier, (2) water, and (3) a first oil phase. The method also includes the step of (B) adding a second oil phase, including a hydrolyzable silicon containing compound, to the seed emulsion. A weight ratio of the second oil phase including the hydrolyzable silicon containing compound to the first oil phase in the seed emulsion is from 0.5 to 50. Moreover, a total weight of the first and second oil phases in the emulsion is at least 60 weight percent.

Method of forming a hydrolysis resistant aqueous emulsion

A process for increasing the hydrophobicity of a porous product by treating the product, or a composition providing for the product, with a water repellent material, characterized in that the porous product or a composition providing the product, is treated with an aqueous suspension of microcapsules where the microcapsules comprise a water repellent organosilicon core material selected from an organosilane, a partially condensed organosilane and a branched siloxane resin, and a shell of a silicon-based network polymer comprising silica units.

Water repellent organosilicon materials

The present invention relates to hydrophobic gypsum and to a process for making gypsum hydrophobic, in particular it relates to a powdered hydrophobing additive, a hydrophobic gypsum composition and method for preparing same using granules containing organosilicon compounds as hydrophobing additives. The invention provides a granulated additive for rendering gypsum material hydrophobic, comprising a particulate carrier on which is deposited an organosilicon component, a binder polymer and an emulsifier for the organosilicon component. Such a granulated hydrophobic additive is able to provide a high initial hydrophobicity to gypsum materials to which it is applied and that the obtained hydrophobicity can last during a long period of time.

Antimicrobial quaternary ammonium organosilane compositions

A non-aqueous silicone emulsion is provided. It comprises a continuous phase of a polar organic liquid containing droplets of an organopolysiloxane dispersed therein. An organic wax, which has a melting point in the range 40 to 100&#xb0; C. and is sparingly soluble in the polar organic liquid at 25&#xb0; C., is dispersed in the polar organic liquid continuous phase as a network of interconnected particles which stabilizes the organopolysiloxane droplets in emulsion in the polar organic liquid. A process for the production of the emulsion is also disclosed.

The present invention provides a water- and oil-repellent soil-resistant composition comprising (A) a fluorine-containing polymer having repeating units derived from a monomer comprising a fluorine-containing monomer and (B) a silane compound. The water- and oil-repellent soil-resistant composition comprising the fluorine-containing acrylate polymer can impart the excellent water- and oil-repellency and soil resistance to the porous substrate and is free from an organic solvent.

Method of preparing water- and oil-repellent soil-resistant composition

The present invention relates to cementitious materials, which exhibit a hydrophobic character, and to a process for making cementitious materials hydrophobic, and to a granulated additive for rendering cementitious material hydrophobic. An emulsifier for the organosilicon component is deposited on the particulate carrier together with the organosilicon component and the binder. The hydrophobing agent permits to impart instantaneous hydrophobicity to cementitious materials.
