An intervertebral disc prosthesis designed to be substituted for fibrocartilaginous discs ensures a connection between the vertebra of the vertebra column or the end of the latter. The prosthesis includes a pair of plates spaced from each other by a nucleus. The prosthesis has increased stability by providing the nucleus with a translation or rotation stop, or by inducing an angular correction between its plates contacting vertebra, or a combination of these characteristics. The stop includes parts external to the nucleus and contact surfaces perpendicular to their contact directions. Surgical methods and instrumentation for implanting the prosthesis are also described.

Intervertebral disc prosthesis, surgical methods, and fitting tools

There is provided a posterior lumbar joint prosthesis which includes prosthetic elements reproducing the movements of the joint facets and vertebral anchors which adapt to the variations in the anatomy of vertebra. In use, the prosthesis has lower and upper connectors on each side of the lumbar vertebra. The lower connectors are coupled with, and pivotably mounted onto, respective lower pedicular screws, and a member defining a member axis links lower and upper connectors on each side of the lumbar vertebra. Upon lateral flexion of one of the upper and lower vertebrae relative to the other, each lower connector is capable of multiaxis pivotable movement relative to the respective lower pedicular screws such that each member is capable to pivot with respect to (i) the axis of the lower screw, (ii) a first axis intersecting the lower screw and the lower connector, and/or (iii) an axis intersecting the above first axis and the lower screw, while the member can also move along the member axis.

Posterior lumbar joint prosthesis

The present invention relates to an intervertebral disc prosthesis and insertion instrumentation, the prosthesis comprising at least first and second osseous anchoring means, the first osseous anchoring means disposed proximal to the periphery of the plate on which it is situated and the second osseous anchoring means being offset along the antero-posterior axis, the second osseous anchoring means comprising a basal portion and a sharp-edged portion of width narrower than the basal portion. The instrumentation comprises a rod fitted with at least two feet forming a clip and sliding in a tube, sliding the rod in the tube, in the direction of the manipulation end, causing closing of the clip by contact between the exterior of the feet and a truncated portion of the tube and sliding the rod in the tube, in the direction of the prehension end, causing opening of the clip by contact between an axis and the interior of the feet of the rod.

Intervertebral disc prosthesis and instrumentation for insertion of the prosthesis between the vertebrae

A method of simulating the behavior of an articulated set of bone parts, in particular the vertebral column comprising a construction step of constructing a three-dimensional geometrical model from data that is specific to the subject in a reference position; and a mechanical customization step of determining the geometrical model by detailing at least some of the connection areas of the bone parts. The mechanical customization step includes a stage of customizing critical connection areas for the bone parts; a data acquisition stage of acquiring data concerning the articulated bone set of the subject during at least one clinical test of posture; and a characterization stage for characterizing the mechanical parameters of said junction areas in order to cause the model to reproduce the data acquired during the above-mentioned clinical test.

Method for simulating the behavior of an articulated set of bones

Nuclear implant

A process for nucleotomy of an intervertebral disk to create a nuclear space and a method for replacing a nucleus pulposus of an intervertebral disk after a nucleotomy are provided. The methods position a nuclear implant between two overlying and underlying vertebrae of a spine segment in the form of one or more continuous wire arranged as a stack of helices inside the nuclear space.

A posterior spinal osteosynthesis device for providing a transverse connection between two vertebral rods extending along a spinal segment wherein the device includes pairs of hooks adapted to laterally engage the vertebra with each pair being connected by a pair of parallel rods which are elastically bent to form a transverse arc whose ends are engaged in bores within the hooks.

Posterior backbone osteosynthesis device

This instrumentation comprises valves (2) for shifting aside tissues and vessels, pins for fixing each valve (2) to the spine, each valve (2) comprising for this purpose sleeves (6) in which the pin (5) is slidable; the instrumentation further comprises, for each valve (2), an articulated device (7) comprising a clamp (12) for clamping a rod (13) fixed to the valve (2); the clamp (12) may be articulated to a ball and oriented in all directions in space while the rod (13) and the valve (2) are adjustable in translation in the clamp (12); the articulated devices (7) are adjustably slidably mounted on a support frame (8). The instrumentation further comprises a push member which is capable of bearing against the valves (2) and preventing them from slipping on the surface of the spine while they are being placed in position. This device permits conveniently orienting the valves (2) in all directions and in translation.
