An optical element is configured to be worn in front of an eye of a wearer. The optical element has two main surfaces and includes at least one holographic diffusive element having diffusive properties resulting from spatial variations of refractive index of said holographic diffusive element. The spatial variation of refractive index is greater than 0.001 at at least one given wavelength, on a distance less than 30 μm. An optical equipment includes the optical element and methods for recording a holographic medium onto an optical lens.

An eyewear is adapted for fitting a user's face and for determining an eye direction of a user's eye. The eyewear is provided with at least three light sensors each configured for outputting a measured light intensity value that corresponds to ambient light originating from surroundings of the user outside the eyewear and reflected or scattered by the user's eye. A processing unit of the eyewear determines the eye direction from the measured light intensity values.

A method for obtaining a material containing mesogenic compounds forming a liquid crystal mix with a stabilized blue phase. The method includes the steps of a) inducing the liquid crystal mix, contained in a chemical composition, to form the blue phase, then b) illuminating the chemical composition with a light beam of visible wavelength in order to trigger the polymerization of monomers contained in the chemical composition, to obtain the material comprising the liquid crystal mix in the blue phase stabilized by the polymerized monomers. The chemical composition contains a mesogenic system and a chemical photo-initiator system adapted to trigger the polymerization of the monomers when illuminated by the light beam of visible wavelength, in which the mesogenic system includes the mesogenic compounds forming the liquid crystal mix, a chiral dopant adapted to induce the blue phase, and a monomer mix comprising the monomers adapted to polymerize.
