Method for manufacturing a steel sheet with a ZnAlMg coating, corresponding coated steel sheet, part and vehicle

An installation for continuous hot-dip coating of a metal strip is provided. The installation includes a tank containing a bath of molten metal, a metal strip running through the bath and a confined wiping device. The confined wiping device includes at least two wiping nozzles placed on each side of a path of the strip after the strip has left the bath of molten metal. Each nozzle has at least one gas outlet orifice and an upper face. The confined wiping device also includes a confinement box adjacent each upper face. The confinement boxes are open on a face which faces the strip. Each box includes at least one upper part and two lateral parts.

Process for manufacturing a coated metal strip of improved appearance

A method for resistance spot welding comprising the following successive steps: &#x2014;providing at least two steel sheets with thickness (th) comprised between 0.5 and 3 mm, at least one of the sheets being a zinc or zinc-alloy coated steel sheet (A) with a tensile strength (TS) higher than 800 MPa and a total elongation (TEL) such as (TS)&#xd7;(TEL)&#x3e;14000 MPa %, wherein the composition of the steel substrate of (A) contains, in weight: 0.05%&#x2264;C&#x2264;0.4%, 0.3%&#x2264;Mn&#x2264;8%, 0.010%&#x2264;Al&#x2264;3%, 0.010%&#x2264;Si&#x2264;2.09%, with 0.5%&#x2264;(Si+Al)&#x2264;3.5%, 0.001%&#x2264;Cr&#x2264;1.0%, 0.001%&#x2264;Mo&#x2264;0.5% and optionally: 0.005%&#x2264;Nb&#x2264;0.1%, 0.005%&#x2264;V&#x2264;0.2%, 0.005%&#x2264;Ti&#x2264;0.1%, 0.0003%&#x2264;B&#x2264;0.005%, 0.001%&#x2264;Ni&#x2264;1.0%, the remainder being Fe and unavoidable impurities, &#x2014;performing resistance spot welding of the at least two steel sheets for producing a weld with an indentation depth (IDepth) on the surface of said steel sheet (A) such as: 100 &#x3bc;m&#x2264;(IDepth)&#x2264;18.68 (Zn)&#x2212;55.1, wherein (IDepth) is in micrometers and wherein Znis the solubility of Zn in the steel of sheet (A) at 750&#xb0; C., in weight %.

Resistance spot welding method for joining zinc coated steel sheets

A steel part includes a steel sheet substrate and a coating on at least one surface of the steel sheet substrate. The coating includes between 0.2 and 0.7% by weight of Al, with a remainder of the metal coating being Zn and inevitable impurities. The steel sheet substrate and the coating have at least one deformation. An outer surface of the coating has a waviness Waof less than or equal to 0.43 &#x3bc;m.

Method for manufacturing a metal sheet with a ZnAl coating and with optimized wiping, corresponding metal sheet, part and vehicle

A hot-dip-coated, non-skin-passed, cold-rolled metal strip is provided. The metal coating of the metal strip includes a waviness Waof less than or equal to 0.70 &#x3bc;m, 0.2 to 8% by weight of aluminum and magnesium, and up to 0.3% by weight of additional elements, the balance being zinc and inevitable impurities. Coated metal band having an improved appearance

A coated metallic substrate is provided, including, at least; one layer of oxides, such layer being directly topped by an intermediate coating layer comprising Fe, Ni, Cr and Ti wherein the amount of Ti is above or equal to 5 wt. % and wherein the following equation is satisfied: 8 wt. %&#x3c;Cr+Ti&#x3c;40 wt. %, the balance being Fe and Ni, such intermediate coating layer being directly topped by a coating layer being an anticorrosion metallic coating.

Coated metallic substrate and fabrication method

A metal sheet is provided. The metal sheet includes a substrate having two faces, each face hot dip coated with a metal coating of zinc, aluminum and magnesium. The metal coatings include between 0.1 and 20 wt % of aluminum and 0.1 and 10 wt % of magnesium. Layers of magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide are formed on outer surfaces of the metal coatings. The layers are altered by applying an acid solution on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings or by applying mechanical forces using a roller leveler, a brushing device, or a shot-blasting device on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings. The metal sheet also includes a layer of oil deposited directly on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings.

A method is provided. The method includes providing a steel substrate having two faces coated by dipping the substrate in a bath, altering layers of magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide formed on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings by applying mechanical forces, rinsing and drying the outer surfaces, applying a conversion solution on the outer surfaces and painting the outer surfaces of the metal coatings. Methods for producing a pre-lacquered metal sheet having Zn&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Mg coatings and corresponding metal sheet

A method of annealing of steel sheets is provided which includes a first step consisting in fully oxidizing the surface of such steel sheet thus creating a fully oxided surface layer, a second step consisting in selectively oxidizing elements other than iron of such steel, in an area extending under said fully oxided layer, thus creating a selectively oxided internal layer and a third step consisting in fully reducing said fully oxided surface layer.

Method of annealing steel sheets

A process for manufacturing a coated metal strip having a metallic corrosion protection coating is provided. The process includes passing a metal strip through a molten metal bath comprising from 2 to 8 wt % aluminum, 0 to 5 wt % magnesium, up to 0.3 wt % additional elements, and a balance including zinc and inevitable impurities, to yield a molten metal coated metal strip, wiping the molten metal coated metal strip with a nozzle spraying a gas on either side of the molten metal coated metal strip and cooling the coating in a controlled manner until the coating has completely solidified, to obtain the coated metal strip. A temperature of the molten metal bath is from 350 to 700&#xb0; C., and the cooling is conducted at a rate less than 15&#xb0; C./s between a temperature on leaving a unit where the wiping occurs and a start of solidification of the coating, and then at a rate greater than or equal to 15&#xb0; C./s between a start and an end of solidification of the coating.

Method for producing a coated metal strip having an improved appearance

A cold rolled and hot dip coated steel sheet presenting a tensile strength above 1000&#x2212;50&#xd7;Al MPa, a uniform elongation above 15% and a low density is provided. The steel includes, by weight percent: The balance being Fe and impurities and the microstructure containing 25% to 90% of ferrite, 10% to 50% of austenite, kappa precipitates lower than 5% and martensite lower than 25%. The steel is able to be coated using total oxidation.

Cold rolled steel sheet and vehicle
