The invention relates to a glass substrate for chemical strengthening where a surface is coated by magnetron sputtering with a temporary thin film that reduces the extent of ion exchange upon chemical strengthening and where the temporary thin film can be removed after the chemical strengthening by treatment with an etchant solution. Other embodiments relate to a method for making a chemically strengthened glass substrate with controlled curvature comprising: providing a substrate with opposed surfaces that are durable to a given etchant solution, forming a temporary thin film upon at least part of a surface of the glass substrate, chemically strengthening the glass substrate bearing the temporary thin film, and removing the temporary thin film after said chemical strengthening with said etchant solution. The thickness of the temporary thin film is chosen such that a controlled curvature is obtained upon chemical strengthening.

Glass substrate for chemical strengthening and method for chemically strengthening with controlled curvature

A laminated automotive glazing unit including two glass sheets joined by a thermoplastic interlayer sheet, a system of conductive layers applied to one of the sheets, and including on an edge of the same sheet a substantially opaque masking strip, making contact with the glass sheet, the system of conductive layers covering at least partially the masking strip. The glazing unit further includes busbars for supplying electrical power, the busbars making contact with the layer system in the portion covering the masking strip. The masking strip includes a set of layers that absorb visible radiation, the layers being formed by cathodic sputtering.

Heating glazing unit

The invention relates to an almost opaque decorative glass panel comprising a substrate made of a vitreous material bearing a multilayer stack including at least one light-absorbing functional layer and transparent dielectric coatings such that the light-absorbing functional layer is enclosed between dielectric coatings. The light-absorbing functional layer has a geometric thickness comprised between 25 and 140 nm, and an extinction coefficient k of at least 1.8. The multilayer stack in addition comprises at least one attenuating layer placed between the substrate and the light-absorbing functional layer, having a thickness comprised between 1 and 50 nm, having a refractive index n higher than 1 and an extinction coefficient k of at least 0.5. Furthermore, a transparent dielectric coating the optical thickness of which is comprised between 30 and 160 nm, and the refractive index n of which is higher than 1.5, is placed adjacent to the attenuating layer on the side opposite the light-absorbing functional layer. The invention provides a decorative panel offering a pleasant aesthetic effect.

Decorative glass panel

The invention relates to substrates, in particular to transparent substrates, optionally colored, coated with an infrared-reflecting layer and capable of being used as glazing in buildings or in vehicles. Said coated substrates are made up of the combination of a glass substrate in which the composition has a redox of less than 15%, characterized by infrared reflection RIRso that RIR&#x2265;1.087*TL, wherein TLis the light transmission of the glass, and an infrared reflecting layer characterized by light transmission TLso that TL&#x2265;1.3*TIR, wherein TIRis the infrared transmission of the layer.

Coated substrate for solar control

The invention relates to laminated glazing comprising a substrate, in particular a transparent substrate, optionally colored, coated with an infrared-reflecting layer and capable of being used as glazing in buildings or in vehicles. The coated substrate is made up of the combination of a glass substrate in which the composition has a redox of less than 15%, characterized by infrared reflection RIRV so that RIRV&#x2265;1.087*TLV, wherein TLV is the light transmission of the glass, and an infrared reflecting layer characterized by light transmission TLC so that TLC&#x2265;1.3*TIRC, wherein TIRC is the infrared transmission of the layer.

Laminated glazing for solar control

The invention relates to low-emissivity and anti-solar glazing systems that change only very little in properties when they are subjected to a heat treatment. They comprise a stack of thin layers comprising an alternating arrangement of n infrared radiation reflecting functional layers and n+1 dielectric coatings, and a barrier layer directly superposed on the last functional layer furthest away from the substrate, characterized in that: (i) the first dielectric coating closest to the substrate comprises a layer made from an oxide, in direct contact with the substrate, (ii) the internal dielectric coating or coatings surrounded by two functional layers comprise a layer made from a silicon nitride or a silicon oxide with a thickness greater than 5 nm surrounded on both sides by layers made from an oxide other than silicon oxide with thicknesses greater than 5 nm, (iii) the barrier layer is based on zinc oxide or consists of an indium oxide possibly doped with tin, and (iv) the last dielectric coating furthest away from the substrate comprises, in order starting from the substrate: a layer made from an oxide other than silicon oxide with a thickness greater than 3 nm and a layer made from a silicon nitride or a silicon oxide with a thickness greater than 10 nm.

Low-emissivity and anti-solar glazing

The invention relates to low-emissivity and anti-solar glazing systems that change only very little in properties when they are subjected to a heat treatment. They comprise a stack of thin layers comprising an alternating arrangement of n infrared radiation reflecting functional layers and n+1 dielectric coatings, characterized in that: (i) the first dielectric coating comprises a layer made from an oxide in contact with the substrate, (ii) the portion of the coating stack between two functional layers comprises, in order: a barrier layer, a zinc oxide-based layer, a layer of zinc-tin mixed oxide, a nucleation layer, and (iii) the last dielectric coating comprises a layer made from an oxide other than silicon oxide with a thickness greater than 3 nm overlaid with a layer made from a silicon nitride or a silicon oxide with a thickness greater than 10 nm superposed thereon.

A low emissivity glazing on a pane of glass, includes a set of thin layers formed by vacuum deposition assisted by magnetron, the set of thin layers including at least one metal layer reflecting infra-red rays between one or more dielectric layers located between the metal layer and the glass sheet, the metal layer being provided with a protective barrier coating, including a layer of titanium oxide or sub-oxide, deposited in a weakly oxidizing atmosphere at reduced pressure via a conducting titanium oxide cathode.

Low emissivity glazing

The present invention relates to a glazing coated with an assembly of thin layers using vacuum deposition, said glazing having reflective properties for infrared radiation, while retaining a high transmission in the visible range, and retaining its properties when subjected to a thermal treatment such as bending/toughening. The glazing comprises one or more silver-based layers and dielectric layers, of which at least one underlying dielectric layer in relation to at least one silver-based layer is a titanium oxide- or oxynitride-based layer such as TiMOx or TiMOxNy, in which M is a metal or a plurality of metals or silicon, wherein these metals or silicon are contained in sufficient atomic proportions to prevent a significant transformation of the crystallographic structure of the previously deposited titanium oxide-based layer under the action of the thermal treatment.

Low-emissivity glazing

Low emissivity glazing which is an assembly of thin layers including at least one metal layer reflecting infrared rays between one or more dielectric layers located between the metal layer and the glass sheet and on the metal layer, the light transmission of one clear float glass sheet 4 mm thick coated with said layers being not less than 83%, the metal layer being selected such that the emissivity is not higher than 0.042.

Transparent substrate coated with a silver layer

A glazing suitable for undergoing a thermal treatment such as toughening or bending, comprising a multilayered coating deposited on a glass sheet, and also to a toughened and/or bent glazing and a multiple glazing comprising such a toughened and/or bent glazing. Glazing

A glazing panel has a coating stack comprising in sequence at least a base antireflective layer, an infra-red reflecting layer, a top antireflective layer and a top coat layer comprising at least one material selected from the group consisting of nitrides, oxynitrides, carbides, oxycarbides and carbonitrides of the elements of groups IVb, Vb and VIb of the periodic table.

Glazing panel carrying a coating stack

A glazing panel comprises in sequence at least: a glass substrate, a base antireflective layer comprising at least a base antireflective lower layer and a base antireflective upper layer which is of a different composition to that of the base antireflective lower layer, the base antireflective upper layer comprising a mixed oxide of Zn and at least one additional material X, in which the ratio X/Zn in the base antireflective upperlayer is between 0.02 and 0.5 by weight and in which X is one or more of the materials selected from the group comprising Sn, Al, Ga, In, Zr, Sb, Bi, Mg, Nb, Ta and Ti, a first infra-red reflecting layer, a first barrier layer, a central antireflective layer comprising at least a central antireflective lower layer and a central antireflective upper layer which is of a different composition to that of the central antireflective lower layer, the central antireflective lower layer being in direct contact with the first barrier layer and the central antireflective upper layer comprising a mixed oxide of Zn and at least one additional material Y, in which the ratio Y/Zn in the base antireflective upper layer is between 0.02 and 0.5 by weight and in which Y is one or more of the materials selected from the group comprising Sn, Al, Ga, In, Zr, Sb, Bi, Mg, Nb, Ta and Ti, a second infra-red reflecting layer, a second barrier layer, a top antireflective layer. The coating stack of such a glazing panel may provide particularly advantageous levels of the thermal stability so as to facilitate heat treatment of the glazing panel.

A coated sheet for use in a laminated assembly and having a high level of luminous transmission and a low energy transmission includes a transparent substrate carrying a coating including two metal layers formed of silver or silver alloy and three layers of a transparent dielectric non-absorbent material, in the sequence, from the substrate: non-absorbent 1/metal 1/non-absorbent 2/metal 2/non-absorbent 3, wherein the two metal layers have a total geometrical thickness which ranges from 16.5 to 22 nm, wherein the non-absorbent 1 layer has an optical thickness which ranges from 50 to 56 nm, wherein the three layers of a transparent dielectric non-absorbent have a total optical thickness which ranges from 220 to 260 nm, and wherein the coated sheet has a thickness ratio of non-absorbent 2:nonabsorbent 1 which ranges from 2.1:1 to 2.8:1.
