Tricyclic isoindole derivatives characterized by having a 1,2,3,4,6,10b-hexahydropyrazino]2,1-a]isoindole or 1,3,4,10b-tetrahydropyrimido[6,1-a]isoindol-6(2H)-one nucleus are disclosed. The foregoing compounds are useful antihypertensive agents. Claimed compounds include those of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each is hydrogen, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl, trifluoromethyl, halo or hydroxy, or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 together form an OCH.sub.2 O chain; and R.sup.14 and R.sup.15 each is hydrogen or lower alkyl.

Tricyclic isoindole derivatives

Tricyclic isoindole derivatives characterized by having a 1,2,3,4,6,10b-hexahydropyrazino[2,1-a]isoindole or 1,3,4,10b-tetrahydropyrimido[6,1-a]isoindol-6(2H)-one nucleus are disclosed. The foregoing compounds are useful antihypertensive agents.

Antihypertensive tricyclic isoindole derivatives

Derivatives of 1,3-dihydro-3-(2-hydroxyethyl) -2H-isoindol-1-one are disclosed. The derivatives are useful for treating ulcers in a mammal and for preventing or decreasing the secretion or availability of excessive amounts of gastric or hydrochloric acid in a mammal suffering from hyperchlorhydria and/or associated conditions.

1,3-Dihydro-3-(2-hydroxy-, 2-bromo- or 2-chloroethyl)-2H-isoindol-1-one

Disclosed herein are compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which Ar is phenyl or 1-naphthyl; R.sup.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are joined form a heterocyclic amine radical selected from the group consisting of 1-pyrrolidinyl, piperidino, morpholino and 4-(lower alkyl)-1-piperazinyl. The compounds are antidepressant agents and methods for their preparation and use also are disclosed.

Antidepressant naphthyloxy piperidino and pyrrolidino propanol ethers

Disclosed herein are compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which Ar is l-naphthyl; R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are either the same or different selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or lower alkyl, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are joined form a heterocyclic amine radical selected from the group consisting of 1-pyrrolidinyl, piperidine, morpholine and 4-(lower alkyl)-1-piperazinyl; and R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are either the same or different selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or lower alkyl, or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 together with the nitrogen to which they are joined represent a heterocyclic amine radical selected from the group consisting of 1-pyrrolidinyl, piperidino, morpholino and 4-(lower alkyl)-1-piperazinyl; or a therapeutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof. The compounds are antidepressant agents and methods for their preparation and use also are disclosed.

Aryloxy propyldiamines

Disclosed herein are compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which Ar is phenyl or 1-naphthyl; R.sup.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are either the same or different selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or lower alkyl; with the proviso that when R.sup.1 is lower alkyl then R.sup.2 is the same lower alkyl. The compounds are antidepressant agents and methods for their preparation and use also are disclosed.
