A system and method for braking an aircraft. A processor unit identifies an operating condition of the aircraft. The processor unit displays available modes indications on a display device on the aircraft. The available modes indications indicate modes of operating an automatic braking system on the aircraft that are available for selection by an operator based on the operating condition of the aircraft. The processor unit receives a mode selection from an operator interface. The mode selection indicates a selected mode of operating the automatic braking system that is selected by the operator from the available modes. The processor unit displays on the display device a selected mode indication indicating the selected mode.

Display-based flight deck autobrake selection

An onboard monitor that ensures the accuracy of data representing the calculated position of an airplane during final approach to a runway. This airplane position assurance monitor is a software function that uses dissimilar sources of airplane position and runway data to ensure the accuracy of the respective data from those dissimilar sources. ILS data and GPS or GPS/Baro data are the dissimilar sources of airplane position data used by this function. This function will calculate the airplane's angular deviations from the runway centerline and from the glide slope with onboard equipment and then compare those angular deviations to the ILS angular deviation information.

Airplane position assurance monitor

A system and method for determining a predicted stopping performance of an aircraft moving on a runway. A predicted stopping force acting on the aircraft to stop the aircraft is determined by a processor unit as the aircraft is moving on the runway. A predicted deceleration of the aircraft moving on the runway is determined by the processor unit using the predicted stopping force acting on the aircraft to stop the aircraft. The predicted stopping performance of the aircraft on the runway is determined by the processor unit using the predicted deceleration of the aircraft.

Methods and systems for a go/no-go Landing Decision Point (LDP) are disclosed. The methods and systems provide a graphical LDP on a cockpit display that pilots can use to determine whether to continue the landing or execute a go-around. The methods and systems may be implemented in embodiments having an onboard portion, an off-board portion, or both operatively coupled to provide an LDP in a preview/planning mode and real time mode.

Methods and systems for landing decision point

A method and a system for displaying an airport or runway moving map with traffic information on a display screen in the cockpit or flight deck of an aircraft. Symbology representing surface and near-surface aircraft and surface vehicle traffic and associated traffic data are filtered to prevent or limit clutter on the display screen. Traffic symbology is automatically and manually filtered to display only relevant traffic. Traffic data is selectively displayed and displayed as/when relevant or needed. The displayed traffic information may be derived from automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast, traffic information system-broadcast, automatic dependent surveillance-rebroadcast, traffic collision avoidance system or other source.

A method, apparatus, and computer program product for displaying information about runways. A runway for an aircraft is identified when the aircraft is within a selected distance of the runway. A number of graphical indicators are displayed on a display in a flight deck. The number of graphical indicators corresponds to a number of features of the runway present in a field of view for an eye reference point in the flight deck.

An air traffic control system for control of airport ground traffic includes a graphical display system configured to display a surface map, and configured to enable a controller to input, via a graphical input device, a taxi route along the surface map. Furthermore, the system includes a processor operatively coupled to the graphical display system, wherein the processor is configured to provide the surface map to the graphical display system. The processor is programmed to interpret the taxi route, and modify the taxi route to a taxiway path existing on the surface map. The system includes a transmitter communicatively coupled to the processor, wherein the transmitter configured to transmit the taxiway path to an aircraft, and a datalink interface positioned onboard the aircraft and configured to receive and display the transmitted taxiway path.

Systems and method for managing airport ground traffic

Methods and systems for displaying aircraft operations information are disclosed. A method in accordance with one embodiment includes receiving operations information, presenting a first portion of the information over a first area of a display medium having a first size, receiving a signal corresponding to an instruction to increase a fraction of the display medium occupied by the operations information, and presenting at least the first portion of the operations information over a second, larger area of the display medium. Multiple display media can be controlled by independent selectors, with each selector having two portions, one to select categories of aircraft operations information, and another to present groups of selectable options corresponding to each of the individual categories of operations information.
