A composition suitable for preparing a coating, such as a paint or a varnish, may include an acrylic acid copolymer thickener, a polymer binder chosen from a vinyl acetate homopolymer, a vinyl acetate copolymer, a vinyl versatate homopolymer, a vinyl versatate copolymer and combinations thereof, and water. A composition including the acrylic acid copolymer and such a polymer binder may be used in an aqueous coating composition in order to improve the stability of same during storage.

Aqueous coating composition

The invention pertains to the field of aqueous thickening compositions, particularly for increasing the viscosity of an aqueous paint or varnish composition, a detergent composition or a cosmetic composition, in particular a cosmetic composition comprising ethoxylated surfactant compounds. The composition according to the invention comprises at least 40% by weight of water and combines a particular thickening compound and a nonionic compound comprising at least one hydrophilic saccharide group attached to at least one linear or branched hydrophobic chain.

A method for reducing the hygroscopicity of a material (M) including calcium carbonate may include treating the calcium carbonate with at least one homopolymer grinding assistant (P) which is neutralized in a particular way. A method for producing such a material (M) including calcium carbonate may include treating the calcium carbonate with at least one homopolymer grinding assistant (P) to provide such a material (M), which is then of reduced hygroscopicity. Such a calcium carbonate may be used as a filler in polymeric plastics.

A polymer may have a molecular mass of less than 8,000 g/mol and a polymolecularity index PI of less than 3, produced by free radical polymerization, in water, and at a temperature higher than 50° C., of at least one anionic monomer comprising at least one polymerizable olefinic unsaturation and at least one carboxylic acid function, in the presence of phosphorus with a degree of oxidation I, phosphorus with a degree of oxidation III and a radical-generating compound. Such polymers may be produced and use for grinding mineral matter, as a detergent agent, or as an anti-scaling agent.

The present invention relates to a method for producing mineral particles grinding a mineral material in the presence of a specific anionic polymer. The polymer used is obtained by means of polymerisation in the presence of sodium hypophosphite, disodium dipropionate trithiocarbonate and at least one radical-generating compound. The invention also relates to an aqueous composition comprising particles of ground mineral material and such a polymer, in particular a paper coating slip composition.

Method for grinding mineral material

Water-soluble copolymer and use thereof as dispersant for suspension of particles

The invention relates to a process for preparing a dispersion of a lipophilic compound in a continuous hydrophilic phase, the morphology of which is submicronic. During the preparation of this dispersion, there is applied, by means of a device which produces a shearing gradient less than 5000 s, a shear stress from 100 to 5000 Pa during the addition of the lipophilic compound in the continuous phase which comprises a rheology-modifying compound selected from anionic copolymers, preferably an anionic polymer, in particular an ASE polymer or a HASE polymer. The dispersed particles of the lipophilic compound are nanometric particles whose size is less than 1 &#x3bc;m. The dispersion, particularly in the form of an emulsion, can be used in numerous fields.

Submicronic emulsion

The invention relates to a copolymer obtained by polymerisation reaction of at least three comonomers: a first anionic monomer, a second monomer comprising an olefin unsaturation, and a third monomer comprising a hydrophobic group. The invention likewise relates to the use of said copolymer as a thickening agent, in particular in aqueous suspensions of mineral particles with high solids content. The copolymer according to the invention makes it possible to improve the compromise between viscosity with high shear gradient and viscosity with low shear gradient, while also improving water retention inside the suspension.

Thickening anionic copolymer

(EN) The invention relates to the field involved in the production of aqueous compositions comprising rheology modifying agents, in particular the production of aqueous detergent or cosmetic compositions having improved, thickening and clarity properties, as well as good suspension properties. In particular, the invention relates to a rheology modifying agent which is a copolymer obtained by means of polymerisation of at least one crosslinking monomer with at least one anionic monomer comprising at least one polymerisable ethylenic unsaturation and at least one hydrophobic non-ionic monomer comprising at least one polymerisable ethylenic unsaturation.

Copolymer having thickening and suspension properties

The invention relates to the preparation of a water-soluble anionic polymer, the weight-average molecular mass Mof which ranges from 1,000 to 10,000 g/mol and the polydispersity index Iof which is less than 3.5. The polymer according to the invention is obtained by a polymerization reaction in water of an unsaturated anionic monomer, in the presence of Cuor of Cuand of an aromatic compound comprising a functional group chosen from hydroxyl, primary amine, secondary amine and tertiary amine directly bonded to the aromatic ring. The invention also relates to an aqueous composition comprising the polymer according to the invention.

Method for preparing a polymer

The invention concerns the field of detergent compositions, in particular detergent compositions for automatic washing, in particular for automatic dishwashing. Therefore, the invention provides a phosphate-free detergent composition comprising at least one non-sulfonated, non-ionic surfactant compound and a non-sulfonated water-soluble copolymer prepared, by polymerisation reaction, in the presence of at least one compound comprising at least one alcohol function, acrylic or methacrylic acid and a compound of formula (I):  The invention also concerns the use of this non-sulfonated water-soluble copolymer as an anti-scaling agent or anti-drip agent, and a cleaning method.

Phosphate-free polymeric detergent composition

Process for thickening a composition, through the use of a direct emulsion in water, which is alkali-swellable, of a polymer of the ASE or HASE type, which is both rich in acrylic acid and which has a certain quantity of AMPS. The use of such emulsions simultaneously allows there to be no obligation to use surfactants and organic solvents other than water, and allows the thickening phenomenon to be activated for pHs of less than 7: this latter characteristic is particularly advantageous for formulations intended to be used in contact with skin.
