A method and a system are described where the quality of an image can be modified, using formatted information related to the defects of the appliances of the chain of appliances. The method may include compiling directories of sources of formatted information related to the said appliances, searching automatically for this formatted information related to the appliances of the said chain of appliances, modifying the said image automatically by image-processing software or components by taking into account the formatted information. Additionally, the formatted information may be modified as a function of variable characteristics of the image to be processed and of the chain of appliances. Thus, it is possible to process the images derived from appliances that may be of diverse origins and that have been commercialized gradually over time, such as photographic or video images in optical instrumentation, industrial controls, robotics, metrology, etc.

Method and system for modifying image quality of an image

A method and a system with which the quality of an image derived from or addressed to a chain of appliances can be modified. Formatted information related to defects of the appliances is employed. A processing system and method for producing formatted information related to appliances of an appliance chain. This appliance chain includes at least one image-capture appliance and/or at least one image-restitution appliance for capturing and/or restituting an image on a medium. The system and method produce formatted information related to geometric distortions of at least one appliance of the chain. Fixed characteristics of the appliances and/or variable characteristics depending on the image can be taken into account. The fixed characteristics and/or the variable characteristics can be associated with one or more characteristic values, especially the focal length and/or the focusing. Then, measured formatted information related to the geometric distortions of the appliance are produced from a measured field. Method and system for producing formatted data related to geometric distortions

A system and a method for correcting chromatic aberrations of a color image composed of a plurality of digitized color planes. The color image is assumed to have been produced by an optical system. According to the system and method, geometric anomalies of the digitized color planes are modeled and corrected, at least partly, in such a way to obtain corrected digitized color planes. The corrected digitized color planes are then combined to obtain a color image corrected completely or partly for the chromatic aberrations. The system and method are applicable to photographic or video image processing, in optical devices, industrial controls, robotics, metrology, etc.

Method and system for correcting chromatic aberrations of a color image produced by an optical system

The invention relates to a system and method for calculating a transformed image from a digital image and formatted information related to a geometric transformation, especially formatted information related to the distortion and/or chromatic aberrations of an appliance chain. This calculation is carried out on the basis of an approximation of the said geometric transformation. The invention is applicable to photographic or video image processing, in optical devices, industrial controls, robotics, metrology, etc.

Method and system for calculating a transformed image from a digital image

An optical installation for determining the relative positions of at least two objects, such as vehicle wheels, includes two optical systems for determining the position of an object in space, each with respect to its observation frame. An optical reference system includes a target visible from the other optical system in the absence of the objects. The other optical system includes a device for analyzing an image of the target and a device for positioning the target with respect to its observation frame, so as to deduce therefrom the position of the observation frame of the other optical system with respect to the observation frame of the of the optical reference system, on the basis of the positions of the target with respect to the observation frame and of the target with respect to the observation frame of the optical reference system.
