A method is disclosed for controlling a PWR comprising a plurality of control bars selectively and individually positioned in the reactor core. The current value of an operating parameter indicative of the power level (for instance the average temperature of the core) is measured as well as the current positions of the control bars and the axial power offset in the core. When the difference between the current value of the operating parameter and the set value exceeds a predetermined deadband interval or the axial power offset in the core exceeds a reference value, the amount by which the reactivity of the core should be modified is computed. Through a simulation process on a model of said reactor, it is determined which ones of the bars may be moved and which are the amounts of travel to be given to the bars for bringing the difference within the deadband and the offset toward the reference value while minimizing a core enthalpy increase factor.

Method of controlling a pressurized water nuclear reactor

A device for partitioning off the core of a nuclear reactor, including transverse plates (17) attached to the envelope (8) of the core and arranged transversely with respect to the fuel assemblies (5), and second plates (19) extending in the longitudinal direction with respect to the fuel assemblies. The second plates (19) are arranged in gaps between the transverse plates (17) and slightly stepped back with respect to the assemblies (5). The transverse plates (17) are connected to the longitudinally extending plates (19) with a certain clearance in the longitudinal direction. The transverse plates (17) are in contact with the assemblies (5) arranged at the periphery of the core by way of a portion of their peripheral surfaces.

Device for partitioning off the core of a nuclear reactor

The invention relates to a superheated steam generator comprising a bank of U-tubes. It comprises a water drum (1) and a secondary casing (14) which are welded one on each side of the tube plate (5) and a bank of tubes (6) fixed on the tube plate (5) and contained in a casing (12) disposed inside the secondary casing (14) and forming an annular space (15) lying between the casings (12 and 14). Above the tube bank casing (12) a free space (25) is provided inside the secondary casing (14). This free space (25) constitutes a reserve of feed water in communication with the annular space (18). The water capacity thus constituted can be fed by at least one supply means (26). The invention is particularly applicable to pressurized-water nuclear reactors.
