A lidar imager for acquiring a range image of a scene comprises a light source for emitting a light beam, a scanning device for scanning the light beam across the scene and a light sensor for receiving light reflected from the scene. The scanning device comprises a spatial light modulator (SLM) configured to display holograms that deflect the light beam into different directions within the scene to be imaged.

Lidar imager

A spatially coded structured light is generated by an array of laser diodes () in order to perform structured light triangulation. The laser diodes (-) are VCSEL, where the light is emitted in the direction perpendicular to the semiconductor wafer surface. Plural such laser diodes (-) are integrated monolithically to form an array (). The position of the individual laser diodes in the array is coded spatially to form a non-regular unique pattern. The light output by the lasers is projected by a refractive or diffractive optical system () into the space to be monitored to form the structured light pattern. An object () to be investigated may be illuminated by the VCSEL array () and a camera () captures the frames. A processing unit () controls the power of VCSEL (-) and processes the data from the camera ().

Spatially coded structured light generator

The invention generally relates to hybrid three-dimensional imagers and to a laser source for active illumination for hybrid three-dimensional imagers (i.e. 3D imagers that make combined use of different 3D imaging technologies). The invention is applicable to three-dimensional imaging systems which use a combination of different imaging techniques (hybrid technologies) to achieve a higher precision or a higher level of reliability.

Compact laser source for active illumination for hybrid three-dimensional imagers

A foil-type pressure sensor includes a first foil and a second foil. A spacer is arranged in between the first and second foils, which keeps the foils at a certain distance from each other. The spacer presents an opening that defines a sensing region. In this sensing region, the first and second foils can be brought closer one to the other against the resiliency of the foils by pressure acting on the pressure sensor. The pressure sensor further includes light emitting means arranged between the foils for inputting light into the sensing region and light collecting means arranged between the foils for collecting light propagated from the light emitting means through at least part of the sensing region to the light collecting means. When the first and second foils are brought closer one to the other, at least one of the first and the second foils at least partially blocks light propagation through the sensing region.
