A composition may be used in treating or preventing a virus infection in a subject, wherein the virus is from the Paramyxoviridae family and wherein the composition includes an extract of black currants and bilberries. The composition may contain an extract from black currants and bilberries in a weight ratio in a range of from 0.5:1 to 1:0.5. The extract may be an alcoholic extract, such as a methanol extract. The composition may be administered to the subject 1 to 10 oral dosages of at least 80 mg anthocyanins each per day, preferably 3 to 6 oral dosages of at least 80 mg anthocyanins each per day. The subject may not have received a measles vaccination or have previously been exposed to the measles virus.
