The invention relates to a sheath stop including: a hole through which a window lift cable is to pass; and a sheath abutment for locking the sheath of the window lift cable on one side of the sheath stop and wherein, on the other side of the sheath stop, the sheath stop includes a shaft provided so as to be mounted onto a bracket of the sheath stop such that the sheath stop has a freely rotatable mounting configuration on the bracket. The shaft extends transversely to the main orientation of the passage hole, and the passage hole has a partial side clearance that allows the cable a degree of bending freedom within a plane perpendicular to the shaft when the sheath stop freely pivots about the shaft.

A method of fabricating a window regulator includes the step of providing a cable, a window connection on the cable, sheaths for protecting the cable, cable direction-changers, a cable winding drum, a drum support plate, and springs. The method further includes the steps of passing the cable between the direction-changers, inside the springs, inside the sheaths, and around the drum. The method further includes the steps of tensioning a first cable run extending through a first sheath between a first direction-changer and the drum, tensioning the first cable run urging the first sheath against the drum support plate, and compressing a first spring between the first sheath and the support plate. The method further includes the steps of locking the drum against rotation, compressing a second spring between a second sheath and the support plate, and locking the second spring. A window regulator can include the above features.

A sliding door carriage for a vehicle includes a first point for fixing a first cable strand for driving in a first direction, and a second point for fixing a second cable strand for driving in a second direction. Each fixing point is offset toward a rear of the sliding door carriage relative to a direction of driving by the respective cable strand. The sliding door carriage can be included in a sliding door driving system, and the sliding door driving system can be included in a vehicle. The bulk of the sliding door driving system in a body of a vehicle can be reduced.
