A method of pumping an oilfield fluid from a well surface to a wellbore is provided that includes providing a clean stream; operating one or more clean pumps to pump the clean stream from the well surface to the wellbore; providing a dirty stream including a solid material disposed in a fluid carrier; and operating one or more dirty pumps to pump the dirty stream from the well surface to the wellbore, wherein the clean stream and the dirty stream together form said oilfield fluid.

Split stream oilfield pumping systems

A packer assembly has an inner expandable packer. An outer layer having sealing bodies may be disposed about and/or positioned on the outer surface of the inner expandable packer member. Each of the sealing bodies may have an elastomeric body, and one or more flowlines may be embedded in the elastomeric body of each of the sealing bodies. The sealing bodies may be located in grooves in the inner expendable packer member. The sealing bodies may contact a surrounding casing or a surrounding formation to form an annular seal; in an embodiment, the sealing bodies and the inner expandable packer member may contact a surrounding casing or a surrounding formation to form an annular seal. The sealing bodies may be non-integral with each other and/or separable from each other.

Packer assembly with sealing bodies

An integrated pump assembly for both delivering mud and cement slurry to a borehole during a well completion operation. The pump assembly includes separate mud and cement pumps for maintaining isolation between mud and cement slurry during different stages of the operation. However, in order to obviate the need for a dedicated cement pump prime mover, the cement pump may be driven by the mud pump itself or a prime mover coupled to the mud pump. In the case of coupling the cement pump to the mud pump a hydraulic line may be employed such that hydraulically compatible mud and cement pumps may be more remotely positioned relative to one another if so required based on equipment blueprints for a given well completion facility to be located at a production site.

Integrated pump assembly for well completion

A technique involves a packer formed as an expandable packer with an internal expandable bladder. The expandable bladder is formed with a section that is radially enlarged relative to an axial end of the expandable bladder when the bladder is in a relaxed state. The bladder configuration enables use of a reduced expansion ratio while still allowing expansion of the packer to a desired large diameter.

Expandable packer methods

Packers may be inflated within the wellbore to engage and isolate a portion of the wellbore wall. Charges included within the packers may then be fired to perforate the formation. According to certain embodiments, the charges may be located within drains in the packers that can be subsequently employed to sample the surrounding formation.

Perforating packer sampling apparatus and methods

A sampling assembly has an inner expandable packer, and an outer layer formed by rings may be disposed about and/or may be positioned on the outer surface of the inner expandable packer member. Drains may be positioned between the rings and may be located under ports positioned between the rings. Flowlines may be connected to the drains, may be positioned in the rings and may extend through the rings. For each of the ports, a plate may be positioned between the port and the laterally adjacent port. The flowlines may be connected to a downstream component, such as a fluid analysis module, a fluid containment module and/or the like.

System and method for sampling assembly with outer layer of rings

A system and/or a method collects formation fluids using a single packer with expansion rings and/or an irregular sealing layer. The packer may have an expansion ring extending around an outer circumference. The expansion ring may seal a portion of a wellbore to sample fluid from a formation. An irregular sealing layer may facilitate leaking between drains of the packer. The irregular sealing layer may have grooves through which fluid may flow. The irregular sealing layer may be composed of fibers and/or plastic.

Single packer with a sealing layer shape enhanced for fluid performance

A technique involves collecting formation fluids through a single packer. The single packer comprises an outer bladder with drains positioned in the outer bladder to obtain formation fluid samples. Features also may be incorporated into the single packer to limit sealing in the circumferential spaces between the drains and to provide a larger sampling surface than provided simply via the drain surface area.

System and method related to a sampling packer

A method and/or a system determines mechanical properties of a fluid-bearing formation. One or more packers may be used to measure and/or collect data regarding mechanical properties of a formation. The formation characteristics may be, for example, the stability of the formation, design parameters for frac-pack/gravel-pack operations, and sand production. The packer may expand within a wellbore of a formation until enough pressure is applied to fracture a wall of the wellbore. Before, during and/or after the fracturing of the wall, multiple measurements may be taken by the packer. After fractures are initiated, fluid may be pumped into and/or drawn from the formation using drains disposed on the packer. Additional packers may be used above and/or below the packer for isolating intervals of the wellbore.

System and method for determining mechanical properties of a formation

A packer assembly with an enhanced sealing layer is provided. The packer assembly may have an outer bladder with drains. The packer assembly may further have an inflatable inner packer disposed inside the outer bladder such that inflation of the inner packer causes the outer bladder to expand. End pieces may be coupled to the inner bladder and the outer bladder, and flowlines may be in fluid communication with the drains and the end pieces. A piston ring may reinforce the packer assembly. The piston ring may have three or more passive pistons which expand with the packer assembly during testing.

An embodiment of a method of operating at least two pressure vessels to inject a particulate slurry into a high-pressure line, comprises a first operating cycle comprising: isolating a pressure vessel from the high-pressure line, introducing, under low-pressure conditions, particulate solids into the pressure vessel through a particulate solids inlet aperture, a second operating cycle comprising: providing high-pressure flow into the pressure vessel, and providing a high-pressure slurry flow from the pressure vessel into the high-pressure line. The method further comprises causing a pressure vessel to operate in the first operating cycle while operating a pressure vessel in the second operating cycle, and synchronizing switching a first vessel from the first operating to a second operating cycle and switching a second vessel from the second operating cycle to the first operating cycle such that at least one of the vessels is operating in the second operating cycle.

Apparatus and method for oilfield material delivery

An arrangement having a body with at least one drain provided in the body is disclosed. The drain is configured to receive fluid when the body is expanded from a first unexpanded condition to a second expanded condition. At least one flowline is connectable to the drain. A screen is positioned over the drain and is configurable to expand from the first unexpanded condition to the second expanded condition.
