A system and method of autofocusing an optical system uses transforms of images or portions of images formed by the optical system. A detector is used to capture images at different positions relative to the optical system. Transforms and blur spread parameters are calculated for the images for use in determining a position to which the detector should be moved to autofocus the system.

Moreover, when the result of a comparison is validated the coordinates of the point of the connection having inferior coordinates are copied over to those of the point having superior coordinates, it is verified whether solely the point Pa(i&#x2212;l, j&#x2212;l) is a contour point amongst the four points Pa, Pb, Pc, Pd extracted, and in the affirmative case the coordinates of the origin point and of the final point and the orientation of the straight-line segment, if its size is greater than a predetermined threshold, are saved.

A laser scanner with a 2D resonant electrostatic micro-mirror has improved aiming visibility, reduced tilt dependence and improved read range. A method of capturing images using a laser scanner equipped with a 2D micro actuator. The 2D micro actuator allows for laser beam location without the use of additional components dedicated to determining beam location. The 2D micro actuator is used to stabilize the positioning function of the spot in the scene. The micro actuator is a 1D micro actuator suspended within a second framework by two torsion bars and two pairs of orthogonal additional electrodes. The image is scanned, a precise rectangle of the character sensing field is generated and the image is created by keeping a substantially constant pitch.

Furthermore, according to this process, at the time of the parameterization of a scanner, after selection of the various commands and parameters, the selected character strings are reassembled into at least one sequence of character strings of a length at the most equal to that of the scanning range of the scanners, each of said sequences is converted to obtain the corresponding graphical symbol, and each of these symbols is read by means of the scanners.
