Pile textile elements are disclosed in which textile filamentary materials are assembled in a bundle, these materials being held together at one end only, by any suitable means such as adhesive or crepe paper wrapped around the bundle. The other ends of the filamentary textile materials of the bundle are not connected. The pile elements can be fixed to a backing such as a textile backing, furniture, bedding etc., in a conventional manner.

Pile textile elements

A plurality of substantially parallel filamentary textile materials are assembled in a bundle to make a textile pile element. One end of the bundle has a base joining the materials at one end in a stable condition whereas the other end of the bundle contains strands which are free and open. The textile materials are retained in parallel arrangement by the base which is located in a mesh. The mesh is a support comprised of a planar structure having openings for receiving the bases of the elements. The mesh may be prefabricated or assembled during fabrication of the pile article. A pile textile article is made from the elements by a process of fabrication which includes the steps of inserting the textile elements in the opening in the mesh to result in an article which has application to furniture, clothing, toys, hats and decorative items.

An openwork textile structure is formed from at least one textile web and has a plurality of regularly and/or randomly distributed open areas wherein each open area is separated from the adjacent open area by at least one compressed zone of textile materials contiguous with at least one zone of textile materials having a greater apparent diameter than the compressed zones, and wherein the textile materials of the web remain parallel to one another in the compressed zones. Three-dimensional openwork textile structures can be formed by superimposing two or more of the openwork textile webs and gathering together and compressing in parallel arrangement, textile materials from at least two adjacent superimposed webs. The openwork textile structures can be prepared by holding a web of crimped textile materials under tension, locally compressing the web at a plurality of locations along the length and width thereof and thereafter relaxing the tension or by holding in place a web of non-crimped, but heat crimpable, textile materials, compressing the web at a plurality of locations along its width and length and thereafter heat treating the web, in the absence of tension, to develop the latent crimps. The openwork textile structures have various applications as decorative articles, furnishings and clothing.

Openwork textile structure and process for manufacture thereof

A process for the preparation of texturized multifilamentary polyester yarn possessing a stable crimp, in which the yarn passes first through a crimping device comprising an injector where the yarn is subjected to a stream of hot fluid which separates the filaments, and thereafter through a stacking nozzle to cause crimping, characterized in that the fluid is fed in at a temperature below the second order transition temperature of the polyester yarn, which feeding temperature is usually between 95.degree. and 220.degree. C., and in that the stack, after it issues from the nozzle is kept in the compressed state, subjected in this state to a high pressure of the order of 20 to 200 kg/cm.sup.2, and kept at ambient temperature or subjected to a heat treatment at a temperature below the second order transition temperature of the polyester yarn, which is usually at a temperature of up to about 220.degree. C., for a period of time ranging from one minute to 150 minutes. Polyester yarn possessing a stable crimp and fiber prepared by cutting the said yarn, as well as the textile articles comprising this yarn are also disclosed.

Process for texturizing polyester yarn and yarn

The invention relates to elongated textile elements having one or more thickened portions along its length, processes for their manufacture and the articles produced with such elements. The element is characterized in that it consists of an assembly of substantially parallel yarns of high bulk, which possesses, over its length, at least two compressed zones of low diameter separated by a bulky zone of high diameter. These elements, used by themselves or in association with other materials, make it possible to obtain very decorative articles suitable for garments and especially for furnishings such as tapestries, wall coverings, seat covers and the like.

The channel lies in the wall of a cylindrical static body and is tangent to the inner wall of said body. The fluid supports the strand so that the yarn does not touch the groove. In addition, the fluid treats the yarn and helps to advance the yarn.
