A female part of an animal-identifying device, which includes a cavity intended to receive a head of a male part of the animal-identifying device. The cavity includes a blocking element provided within the cavity to hold the head inside the cavity. The blocking element includes a base and at least two resilient claws extending from the base towards an entrance of the cavity. The claws are movable between several positions, including: a resting position before insertion of the head into the cavity, in which the claws are relaxed; an insertion position, in which the claws are stressed into opening; and a blocking position after insertion of the head into the cavity, enabling blocking of the head inside the cavity.

The application describes animal identification systems. One animal identification device includes a male part including a shank () extending from a support () and ending in a locking head () intended to be inserted into a female part so as to fix the identification device to an animal, the shank having passing through it a longitudinal canal that allows the passage of the animal tissue sampling member. The shank () includes at least one abutment element () protruding into the canal, located between the middle of the shank and the distal end of the head (), the at least one abutment element defining a bearing zone against which at least one bearing element of the sampling member can bear while animal tissue is being sampled. The sampling member includes at least one bearing element that complements the at least one abutment element of the male part.

The invention pertains to a system for identifying an animal comprising a male part (), cooperating with at least one cutting element intended to cut out a sample of animal tissue, a female part () with open head having a through-channel, and a detachable device () for storing said sample, intended to be fixed to one end of said through-channel. According to the invention, the system also comprises means for closing said head that can take at least two positions, comprising an open position enabling the passage of said sample through the through-channel during a collecting operation, and an irreversible closed position by which the channel is closed in the vicinity of said one end () subsequently to the collecting operation.

The cavity has a blocking element to hold the head inside the cavity. The blocking element has a base and at least two resilient claws extend from the base towards the entrance of the cavity. A device for sampling biological tissue () to be used in a label for marking animals includes: a hollow needle () having a cutting edge () at one end, capable of sampling a biological tissue sample when the sampling device is inserted into the biological tissue; a fixation part () of the hollow needle, made as a single piece and including a tank () containing a chemical for processing a biological tissue sample, the base of the tank including a partition () that is punctured by the needle when a pressure is applied upon the insertion of the sampling device into the biological tissue. After puncturing the partition, the content of the tank flow into the hollow needle and contacts the recovered sample. The end of the hollow needle containing the sample can further be protected by a cap, and the sample remains easily accessible for further analysis.
