The present invention is directed to a method, system and program for displaying and/or hiding, in an electronic multi-dimensional spreadsheet on a user interface, elements of a range of cells, a range of cells having one or more contiguous elements aligned along a given spreadsheet dimension, an element of a range of cells having one or more cells along one or a plurality of spreadsheet dimensions. The method includes (A) detecting a command for hiding at least one element in a selected range of cells, the command comprising means for identifying the selected range of cells and means for identifying a display focus level selected among a plurality of ordered display focus levels defined for the selected range of cells; (B) identifying the selected range of cells in the element to hide; (C) identifying the selected display focus level; (D) identifying a table associated with the selected range of cells, the table associating each defined display focus level with at least one cell content criteria to apply to the content of the at least one cell; and (E) selectively displaying the element on the user interface based on the relationship of the selected display focus level with the display focus level associated with the element.

A system and method for copying and pasting cells in a multi-dimensional spreadsheet. The method is implemented by execution of program code by a processor of a computer system. A source range of cells is copied and pasted in a multi-dimensional spreadsheet onto a destination range of cells in the spreadsheet by performance of a comprehensive paste of the source range of cells onto the destination range of cells. A graphical object in the source range of cells has an associated fastened range of cells, and an associated working range of cells identified by a first relative offset. The copying and pasting results in: the graphical object being within the destination range of cells; and the fastened range of cells and the working range of cells being respectively pasted into an associated fastened range of cells and an associated working range of cells in the destination range of cells.

A system and method of copying and pasting a source range of cells onto a destination range of cells in a spreadsheet. The source range includes at least one working range of cells and at least one fastening range of cells that include graphical objects. When the cell identifications are relative rather than absolute, means for identifying the working range of cells within the source range of cells are replaced by means for identifying the copied working range of cells within the destination range of cells.

The method comprises the steps of receiving a command comprising means for identifying a data table and a specified field in the data table; one or more cell content criterias and one or more order oriented criterias, each order oriented criteria specifying a range of ranks according to a reference record complying with one or plurality of cell content criterias in the data table; processing one or plurality of cell content criterias on the specified one or plurality of fields of the data base and selecting the records complying with the processed one or plurality of cell content criterias; determining, from a given first selected record in the data table, the rank of each selected record along the first dimension and entering the rank in a temporary field defined for each selected record; converting the one or plurality of order oriented criterias in a new cell content criteria to apply on the temporary field; processing the new cell content criteria on the temporary field of the selected records and identifying the records complying with the new cell content criteria; returning the result of the received command, computed from the cells belonging to the field specified in the command, and the records identified among the selected records.
