A carrier ring for a large diameter propeller system fabricated from a composite material having metallic blade mounting insert members in which are fastened roots of the propeller blades. The carrier ring has an annular ring member formed of a composite material which defines a plurality of radially extending openings, in which openings metallic blade mounting insert members are attached. The blade mounting insert members are retained in assembled relationship with the composite annular ring member by one or more fastening belts which extend around the circumference of the annular ring member in one or more grooves defined by the blade mounting inserts. The fastening belts may be formed by a plurality of turns of a fibrous filament, such as carbon filaments, so as to provide the necessary strength to retain the metallic blade mounting inserts in the composite annular ring member.

Retaining structure for a turbo-machine forming an annulus having a complex ircumferential construction comprising a cylindrical sector of a high mechanical strength material protecting a member secured on the casing of the machine. The complementary sector of the annulus is a honeycomb structure mounted between an internal and an external skin. The cylindrical sector is formed by a thickening of the internal skin. A strap of a material with a high elastic modulus serves to secure at least the complementary sector.

A ring or other annular assembly is supported within a compressor casing by means of one or more resiliently deformable bodies of elastomeric material adhered between two rigid plates. One of the rigid plates is secured to the ring, the other to the compressor casing, and both plates are disposed parallel to the direction of movement of the ring. Preferably, the resiliently deformable body is made up of an alternating stack of the elastomeric plates and rigid plates adhered together, and parallel with the first two rigid plates which secured the body to the ring and the casing. A compressor of a gas turbine plant incorporates an antisurge blow-off valve mechanism in the form of a slot formed in the outer wall defining the flow path and an annular assembly movable axially of the plant to close and open the slot.

The invention relates to a variable area nozzle for a turbo-jet engine. This nozzle comprises a convergent portion, formed by a fixed semi-shell (2) and a semi-shell (3) pivotal about a diametral axis (4a-4b); the fluid-tightness of the convergent portion is ensured by a substantially semi-circular seal (6) and by two longitudinal seals (7a, 7b). The nozzle can be used for example with an engine comprising a partial re-heat system of moderate output.

In a multi-spool turbo machine, a first shaft of the low pressure spool is supported for rotation with respect to a second shaft of the high pressure spool and is located with respect to the second shaft by means of a roller bearing. Rollers of the bearing are inserted between an internal ring mounted on the second shaft and an outer ring mounted by a ring support assembly carried by the first shaft. The ring support assembly includes a ring support member which comprises, at its outer periphery, a first toothed element cooperating with a second toothed element carried by retaining means. The ring support member is held axially by a channel-section member.

The control device comprises at least one control ring to which one end of n elbow lever is articulated. The vane pivot of alternating vanes is fixed at the intersection of the arms of the elbow levers. The other end of each elbow lever is connected by a rod to the end of a straight lever, the other end of which is fixed to the pivot of an adjacent vane. The circumferential movement of the ring causes the pivots of the adjacent vanes to pivot in opposite directions. Two other embodiments have two rings.

From an external turbine chamber (17), cooling air passages are formed through coils mounted in ball-and-socket fashion (26) in a cavity portion (21) above the stationary turbine nozzle vanes (16) from which it escapes downstream through holes (29) in the platform (15) of the stationary vanes (16) in the form of jets of air parallel to the flow of the main gas flow to create a cooling film on the leading edge (30) of the shroud (9) of the movable blades (10) of the turbine rotor in order to cool these blade shroud (9). An airtight connection between this supply chamber (17) and the main flow is ensured by a flexible seal (32) formed of elastic blades (33) in sections attached to one end of the downstream flange (14) of the turbine nozzle housing (11) and supported at the other end by the turbine ring (5).

Device for the containment of fragments of a fan ring in the event of burng of the ring. The fan ring comprises two cylindrical surfaces spaced axially and located radially inside of two containment rings of high tensile strength in the circumferential direction, engaged respectively in grooves of two parts of the rotor, located on either side of the fan ring.

A system for cooling a gas turbine by bleeding air from the compressor and channeling the air at the center of the engine towards the turbine in order to cool it. The air is bled from the plane of the disc bearing the blades of the compressor, said disc having radial ducts for the flow of the air. The invention is utilized in gas turbine engines to cool the turbine.

A multidirectional thrust-vectoring device for a nozzle, including a fixed and pivoting part. The device includes elastic elements constituting a flexible articulation. The elastic elements form two elastic planes, the first of which is fixed on the fixed part and the second on the pivoting part. The elements are assembled in twos by means of a connecting plate and are distributed in two sets of two elements each on the periphery of the nozzle. Jacks associated with each two-set group allow the nozzle to be turned in the direction desired.
